[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 911045] Re: [GM45] xrandr does not enable external display after suspend/resume cycle
I found that this problem occurs only if the external monitor has been connected to the VGA port before boot. I can avoid the problem by connecting the monitor after X starts up. My kernel is vanilla version 3.1.6 + tuxonice patch. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/911045 Title: [GM45] xrandr does not enable external display after suspend/resume cycle To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/911045/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 911045] [NEW] [GM45] xrandr does not enable external display after suspend/resume cycle
Public bug reported: An external monitor is connected to the VGA port of my Thinkpad X200 Tablet laptop. Before the laptop is suspended, I can give an xrandr command to set up a dual-head configuration. After resuming from a suspend, xrandr does not turn on the external display even though it seems to arrange the outputs logically within the virtual screen. The external display starts to work if I switch to a text console by CTRL- ALT-F1 and then back to X by CTRL-ALT-F7. This problem can cause window managers such as mutter and compiz to crash if the screen configuration gets changed while they are running. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 780809] Re: [natty] sporadic crashes with segmentation fault (intel GM45)
Let me attach another log of segfault and the output of dmesg. It happened shortly after I changed the screen configuration between a single monitor setup and a dual monitor setup back and forth a few times using the xrandr command in a gnome-terminal. Again, there was no error in /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/i915_error_state. Before this, the computer had been resumed from a tuxonice hibernation. ** Description changed: Binary package hint: xorg Xserver crashes after use of a few days, with a few suspend and resume cycles in between. I use the ubuntu kernel source 2.6.38-8.42 with the patch of tuxonice 3.2 applied. I don't know yet whether or not tuxonice has something to do with the crash. No error is found in /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/i915_error_state. One of the log files transferred by ubuntu-bug has the backtrace. I did not have this problem before update to natty. Maybe related to the above segfault, there was a problem of a hung GPU on a separate occasion. gdm log for this case is also attached. Maybe related to the above segfault, there was a problem of a hung GPU on a separate occasion. gdm log for this case is also attached. I am not sure if this hang is related to bug #727594 since my chipset is newer than those that are known to cause lockups.
