[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1493888] Re: FGLRX incompatible with gcc 5

2015-10-26 Thread Jason Smith
@Jhonny Oliveira

This works on Radeon HD 6620G. Thanks everyone for the hard work on
this...I was holding off my upgrade to 15.10 for this as I need
proprietary drivers for some stuff on wine, this works like a charm now!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1273652] Re: apply of multi-monitor setting results in crash

2014-11-10 Thread Jason Smith
I believe the problem is a mismatch between the driver and the settings
app. The nvidia-settings attached to driver 304 is actually 331...if
you manually install nvidia-settings 304 (the deb for which you can dig
up somewhere on the nvidia-settings launchpad/files page) all is ok

The GPU initialization routine doesn't seem to 0 out its memory. Our
best bet is probably to figure out how we can initialize the framebuffer
contents earlier. (Im looking at you lightdm)

Ok so its pretty clear this is a video driver/xorg issue. We cant fix
this performance issue within the netbook launcher, however I do feel it
falls within the scope of the Ubuntu as a whole. I am going to retarget
this bug toward Xorg.

2009-07-02 Thread Jason Smith
for further feedback, it seems that the X freezes are not all they seem.
It appears more to be that compiz (if it is running at the time of
suspend) will stop updating the screen on resume. Restarting compiz
fixes the issue.
