[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1950174] Re: [SRU] focal: gallium: Reset {d, r}Priv in dri_unbind_context

2021-11-10 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
** Description changed:

  [Description]
This is a request to backport this fix from mesa 21.1 to focal-updates which
is affecting users of WSL:

https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/commit/7ff30a0499bd872d77b0f377414bbc03463b9f87

This cached stale pointer is causing various chromium applications
(Edge, Chrome, Visual Studio Code, etc…) to hang on resize when vGPU is
enabled in WSLg. We’re getting incredibly unlucky because a glx drawable
is being freed and reallocated with exactly the same heap pointers
during a resize, which is causing Mesa to think the new drawable is
already fully initialized when binded to the context, but it is not true
and only because the new drawable is matching the old stale pointer for
the previously freed drawable… and as a result the context remain
invalid and the app is unable to present.

With the push of WDDMv3 drivers which expose vGPU in WSL, the number of
users hitting this issue is increasing.

  [Test Case]
On Windows 11 with WSLg and Ubuntu 20.04

  1. Verify that hardware acceleration is enable either with glxinfo -B or in
edge with edge://gpu
  2. Install and launch chrome, edge or vscode
  3. Resize the windows repeatedly

  Verification:
The app must not crash or hang.

I also tried the packages from proposed on top of 18.04.0 on which I
could reproduce the original issue and the packages from proposed fixed
it. double verification done.

2020-02-14 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
In bionic I couldn't verify the original bug because the HWE packages in
18.04.4 don't seem to be affected by this bug.

However, on 18.04.4 I uninstalled the HWE stack and replaced it by the
packages in proposed and couldn't reproduce this issue. I didn't notice
any other problem with the update.

Marking as verification-done for bionic

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1746587] Re: my bug's

2018-01-31 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1655724] Re: Should not break systemd in trusty, conflicts with snapd

2017-02-03 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
SRU verification for Trusty:
I have reproduced the problem with xorg-server-lts-xenial
2:1.18.3-1ubuntu2.2~trusty3 in trusty-updates and have verified that the
version of xorg-server-lts-xenial 2:1.18.3-1ubuntu2.3~trusty1 in -proposed
fixes the issue.

Marking as verification-done

error is clearly in lightdm source. And more precisely in

debian/lightdm-session:36:xrdb -nocpp -merge $file
debian/lightdm-session:42:xrdb -nocpp -merge $xresourcefile

2013-02-05 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
I've let the browser test run for half a day and excepted heavy
rendering corruptions, no X crash so far. I'm setting the status of this
report to 'Incomplete' until I can reproduce.

** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu)
   Status: Confirmed = Incomplete

** Changed in: ubuntu-nexus7
   Status: New = Incomplete
