[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 148117]

2018-06-12 Thread Jeremy Huddleston
This is coming from R128InitDDARegisters during init in r128_driver.c:

Roff  = XclksPerTransferPrecise * (DisplayFifoDepth - 4);

Ron   = (4 * info->ram->MB
 + 3 * MAX(info->ram->Trcd - 2, 0)
 + 2 * info->ram->Trp
 + info->ram->Twr
 + info->ram->CL
 + info->ram->Tr2w
 + XclksPerTransfer) << (11 - UseablePrecision);

Not that it helps me much, but maybe someone can work with that...

That being said, this driver isn't really maintained anymore since it's not
used my modern devices... so I'm not sure this will ever be fixed.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 199486]

2013-08-01 Thread Jeremy Huddleston
(In reply to comment #10)
 Hrm. What about the comments from Loic?

I don't think our comments conflict. Loic was concerned about adding
dependencies, and I was suggesting making them soft rather than hard
dependencies.

The only real concern that I see is Michael's:

 Typically xinit is not run as a root, so the user does not have enough
 permissions to create a session with parameters.
 I question weather or not we should try to move this call into X? X is setuid
 root.

I admit that I did not read that comment the first time through as it
was collapsed in my view of the bug. On darwin, we trigger a
LaunchDaemon in startx to do some privileged actions for xinit (like
creating /tmp/.X11-unix). How is this currently handled on other OSs?
Still as an init script?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 199486]

2013-08-01 Thread Jeremy Huddleston
configure.ac needs a bit more work. For example, if I pass --with-consolekit
and I don't actually have it, configure should error out, but it just silently
continues without consolekit. Other than that, it looks good. Mind updating
the patch? Feel free to email it to xorg-devel for review, or attach here and
I'll review it again. Bonus points if you use 'git format-patch' with a commit
message that I can use rather than just 'git diff'

2012-03-27 Thread Jeremy Huddleston
I don't see how this could be happening in xorg-server ... my guess is
that it is kernel related.

Keith, can you comment?

Nicolo, are you still experiencing with newer kernels? Can you attach
system information:

lspci -v
dmesg
/var/log/Xorg.*.log
etc

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 531208]

2011-11-24 Thread Jeremy Huddleston
Dotan,

I'd love to help you learn C. My advise to you is to check out this course at
UC Berkeley designed to teach C to students who already know how to program in
another language:
http://inst.eecs.berkeley.edu/~selfpace/class/cs9c

Most of the materials are available online. You just need to buy or borrow the
book, and you don't have access to the SPC tutors and obviously don't get a
grade or course credit. I used to tutor the course back in the day, so I'd
love to help you out if that means we'd have another X11 contributor.

But let's take this offline for now... just send me an email when you want to
get started and need some help/questions.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 853667] Re: ATI Radeon HD 3850 is completely unusable with default configuration due to frequent lockups

2011-11-08 Thread Jeremy Huddleston
I'm actually not using this card any longer, but at the time I tried, it
was working fine with the Oneiric alphas.

I do think it is worth bringing the change into Natty. I made sure that
the fix is in the upstream (mesa) 7.10 branch, so you should just get
this if you update to the latest mesa-7.10 in Natty. I don't think a
7.10.x release has it yet, so you should just pull in the latest 7.10
changes or cherry-pick this one commit.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 853667] [NEW] ATI Radeon HD 3850 is completely unusable with default configuration due to frequent lockups

2011-09-19 Thread Jeremy Huddleston
Public bug reported:

This issue is present in gallium drivers from mesa 7.10.x which are in
Ubuntu 11.04. Ubuntu 11.10 is not affected, but the fix should be
brought in to Ubuntu 11.04.

I have an ATI Radeon 3850. Using the default drivers (xf86-video-ati
and gallium for dri), I get lockups within a few seconds of any
operation using DRI (compositing, OpenGL, whatever).

The issue is fixed in the meas commit
ecc051d65b6e17115439fb3609cccfd59f6272bf on master and should be brought
in to Ubuntu to address this lockup. Please see this freedesktop bug
for further information.
