I'm now on the third day using a USB mouse without any problem. In my case I'm not using any gaming software, just the standard Ubuntu/Gnome graphic interface. This is happening so often that the computer is virtually unusable. Is there any work-around to avoid the problem or anything that I can back- out so it reverts to the previous version of the component ? I thought I would also mention that I tried changing the definition of visual effects in Preferences from 'Normal' to 'None' to see if it made any difference. It didn't. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg I upgraded from Karmic Koala to Lucid Lynx two days ago. Since I upgraded, my mouse pointer often freezes and the only way to reset this condition is to re-boot. The mouse is a PS/2 mouse. The screen and keyboard continue to work OK. I can switch windows, display all desktops etc. using the keyboard shortcuts, but the mouse pointer remains fixed in its position. I have to use CTL-ALT-DEL to reboot. I have been using Karmic Koala on this same machine since last November without any mouse problems. There has been no change to the hardware. Regards, John Blythe Reid.
