I have found that adding nouveau.noaccel=1 to the Kernel command line in /etc/default/grub has solved the lockups. This bug appears with several variations on a theme on several sites. The most common workaround of adding nouveau.nofbaccel=1 to /etc/default/grub as a kernel command line didn't work for me. nouveau.noaccel=1 does seem to be the workaround for lockup bugs in nouveau with Nvidia graphics cards. 24 hours stable.
