kai@kai-thinkpad:~$ sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date GJET86WW (2.36 ) 12/04/2015 So this is weird. I applied the latest updated and it says 2.36 not 2.37. The releasenotes also don't mention 2.37... Unfortunately the problem still occurs with this BIOS version. I am 99% certain this problem is caused by a the kernel module and not a faulty bios. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1552040 Title: Laptop sometimes doesn't detect external monitor To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1552040/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Public bug reported: After changing from a lower resolution to 4k bottom left of the screen looks fine everything else flickers. When I restart X11 the whole screen looks perfect. Seems like a problem with mode setting and/or MST? I am using a lenovo thinkpad T440s with a dockingstation (but also seems to happen when not connection through the docking station). Just testing this again. I noticed that when using an external monitor and disabling the one on my laptop, the flickering only occurs very rarely.
