[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1552040] Re: Laptop sometimes doesn't detect external monitor

2016-03-20 Thread Kai Mast
kai@kai-thinkpad:~$  sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s
bios-release-date
GJET86WW (2.36 )
12/04/2015

So this is weird. I applied the latest updated and it says 2.36 not
2.37. The releasenotes also don't mention 2.37...

Unfortunately the problem still occurs with this BIOS version. I am 99%
certain this problem is caused by a the kernel module and not a faulty
bios.

I don't see anything in the changelogs that affects dockstations. But
yeah I can go through the process of updating BIOS again...

I can. Could you point me to the package?

Still persists upstream.

But it only seems to happen when I watch netflix with google chrome
while undocking. Also, the audio continues to play after the xserver
crashed, i.e. I see the tty but still hear the audio.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1492494] [NEW] When changing to Ultra HD screen flickers

2015-09-04 Thread Kai Mast
Public bug reported:

After changing from a lower resolution to 4k bottom left of the screen
looks fine everything else flickers. When I restart X11 the whole screen
looks perfect.

Seems like a problem with mode setting and/or MST?

I am using a lenovo thinkpad T440s with a dockingstation (but also seems
to happen when not connection through the docking station).

I also have frequent xorg-crashes that might be related to this. I am
able to do some debug work and dig into the code if somebody tells me
what to do.

As far as I know libinput has a better handling of these touchpads. In
the future we can hopefully use Wayland/Mir or X11 with xorg-input-
libinput.

2014-03-23 Thread Kai Mast
Now look at this.

VLC in fullscreen. Suddenly there is a column on the right that has
frozen. The line is at the same position so these issues could be
related.

(And yeah XMIr is now completely unuseable for me in trusty)

I wrote in November that I am on trusty. (Last tested about 2 weeks

However, I don't use my radeon card anymore so I cannot test this. If
nobody else can confirm it I guess we can keep it Incomplete.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1270452] [NEW] Lenovo T440 Touchpad needs custom config

The new all-touch (similiar to Macbooks) touchpad of the Lenovo Thinkpad

A workaround is explained here:

However, this solution still isn't perfect :(

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1233545] Re: XMir screen corruption on radeon GPU

2013-12-22 Thread Kai Mast
Just testing this again.

I noticed that when using an external monitor and disabling the one on
my laptop, the flickering only occurs very rarely. Also , when enabling
both screens, the flickering is much more severe.

So for me this seems like the radeon driver doesn't detect the refresh
rate correctly or xmir doesn't set the refresh rate correctly.

Of course it only happens when the mouse moves. Only in this case the

I cannot test this on trusty currently. When I install usc nothing
changes -- I still run a normal X session without the system compositor.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1218815] Re: [radeon] Graphic glitches and screen corruption (vertical lines) on XMir surfaces only

2013-09-27 Thread Kai Mast
I still have this problem. I also enabled saucy-proposed, but no change.

Accoring to lshw I have the following chip Mobility Radeon HD
4225/4250

I have xserver-xorg-xmir, xserver-xorg-radeon, xserver-xorg-ati and
unity-system-compositor installed. Without USC everything looks fine.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1231454] [NEW] Wayland on Mir

2013-09-26 Thread Kai Mast
Public bug reported:

Now that unity system compositor will be installed by default soon. Wayland
should come with a Mir backend so desktop environments that use Wayland can run
under USC.
This should be very similar to XMir. Maybe code can even be shared?
