[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1058040] Re: fglrx-installer not working with AMD Radeon/Mobility Radeon HD 2000-4000 cards in Quantal
I'm on Precise. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1114520] [NEW] Graphical Wine applications fail to load
Public bug reported: Graphical applications that run under Wine, such as the SlingPlayer 1.5 will fail to load with the fglrx package installed. http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=11492 Using fglrx-updates used to allow everything to run correctly, and with a significant improvement in native graphics quality and speed. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1047610] [NEW] Xorg freeze when logging out user
Public bug reported: I use two accounts on my computer. 1000 - My main, useful account. 1001 - For testing without messing up my settings on 1000. I always log in 1000 first and log in a second time with 1001. When I first start the computer I can log in and out multiple times without any problems (I've tried). After using the computer for an amount of time it starts getting a bit slow and clunky, partly thanks to the amount of stuff that gets pushed to swap, and partly thanks to another bug which means I have to start Unity over and over. To try and reduce the memory footprint I log UID 1000 out. Wonderfully this is not successful and I end up staring at the background image for UID 1000's profile and nothing else. The mouse and the keyboard become completely useless. Even the NUM LOCK light cannot be switched off. CTRL+ALT+Backspace and CTRL+ALT+DEL do nothing, but that's because the keyboard does nothing. The only solution is SSH in from my phone and force a reboot (or a halt when I get sick of it). I cannot see anything in the logs about a crash but then I don't know where I should be looking or what I should be looking for. This didn't happen in Natty but it's been a while since I used UID 1001, and I cannot remember the last time I logged out UID 1000 while using it. I definitely cannot pinpoint when this started to occur. Well I had an updated version of fglrx installed (not from the repos) which worked fine before this update. I tried to install from the repos but there were all kinds of errors, it also would not reinstall. I have finally managed to force uninstall the latest driver and reinstall the driver from the repos. I am now back in my system, working correctly. I will avoid the latest fglrx until I can be certain that something in Ubuntu won't break it during the next update. It therefore appears that something in xorg-server is incompatible with fglrx 8.881, in this version of Ubuntu at least. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/878235 Title: System unusable after update To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/878235/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

There were three xserver updates, so I have no idea which one has broken my system, but one of them has! [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 760636] [NEW] Installing Skype 5.3 in Wine causes system lock-up
Public bug reported: I've logged this against fglrx, but there is nothing remotely helpful in any of the logs to tell me what is actually causing the problem. When attempting to install the Windows version of Skype 5.3 in Wine the entire system locks up. A system tray icon loads then everything stops responding. The hard drive still flashes so the computer is, apparently, up to something, but I cannot use it and have to power it off. Wine should not have the ability to hang the entire system, so not a Wine bug. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 371750] Re: Wine d3d9 test causes unhandled exception
The crash does indeed still occur with Lucid. I have attached an updated backtrace with the latest Wine git. I added the -dbg package for the graphics drivers too but they don't seem to have made any difference. ** Attachment added: "wine-1.2-rc2-251-ge533ec4 console output" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/50058197/d3d9_test.log ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: Running the d3d9 tests from the current git Wine (wine-1.1.20-185-g2d8f252) causes an unhandled exception. From #winehq: KenSharp: Anyway, looks like you're in Mesa3D software rendering, and it and Wine are not getting along. Is that intentional? i'm using whatever comes with Ubuntu 8.10 for the ATI Radeon 5900. fglrx simply doesn't work so I don't use it Neat. You probably want to install libgl1-mesa-dri (or something like that). I'd blame a bug in mesa's software rasteriser for crashing when compiling a GLSL program. fair enough libgl1-mesa-dri is installed Well, then I stand by my suggestion that it's mesa crashing, and it shouldn't be. What's xdriinfo say, BTW? There's Wine debug channels that'll dump the shaders being produced, that would let you see what the GLSL being fed to Mesa looks like, and then you could chase it up with Mesa developers, or even write yourself a test harness if you're up to it. i have no programming skills unfortunately. my days ended with BASIC Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":20.0". Screen 0: not direct rendering capable. that's not good! If you are aware of Wine, you will be aware that there are many debug channels available, but I do not know enough about this kind of error to know what further information would be useful (including which package is causing the problem). Graphics card is an ATI Radeon 5900. I am not running fglrx. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 371750] Re: Wine d3d9 test causes unhandled exception
Hard to tell if this is fixed or not. Tested using the Lucid live CD as I don't feel like risking my system with a full upgrade yet (will do this in the next month). The test throws up a load of screen garbage over and over again and eventually stops. Because the screen is garbage it is impossible to tell what is going on. Top confirms the test is still running. Killing the test causes the system to shut down and turn off, which isn't very helpful. As it's a live CD, apport-collect cannot be used. Will try again in the next few weeks when the system is installed properly, but initially it looks like a problem still exists. -- Wine d3d9 test causes unhandled exception https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/371750 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 371750] Re: Wine d3d9 test causes unhandled exception
"apport-collect" apparently doesn't show up until Jaunty, I'm using Intrepid. Is there another way to collect this data? "apport-cli" or "apport-gtk" seem to be my options. The unhandled exception no longer occurs, but that could simply mean that Wine handles the exception, the test still fails in latest git. fixme:d3d_shader:shader_glsl_load_constants > GL_INVALID_OPERATION (0x502) from glUniform4fvARB @ glsl_shader.c / 667 visual.c:619: Test failed: Color components differ: c1 = 80, c2 = 00, c3 = 80 visual.c:621: Test failed: Color component value is 80 make[2]: *** [visual.ok] Error 5 make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/test/wine-git/dlls/d3d8/tests' make[1]: *** [d3d8/tests/__test__] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/test/wine-git/dlls' make: *** [dlls/__test__] Error 2 -- Wine d3d9 test causes unhandled exception https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/371750 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
