[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1364003] Re: [FFE] mesa 10.3

2014-09-26 Thread Loïc Minier
This broke autopkgtests of some packages; see bug #1374131.

This is likely to be removed from utopic-proposed for now to allow other
packages to keep transitioning to utopic.

I can also confirm that the kernel from comment #11 (3.8.0-13-generic

Media Accelerator 4500MHD; xrandr output now correct and unconfused fb0,

2010-10-21 Thread Loïc Minier
It's Fix Released because it was fixed in the development version of
Ubuntu (natty, which you may now recognize in the changelog message
copied to this bug).

I've just approved the bug for a maverick update now, and also pushed an
upload to maverick; would you test it when it's published in -proposed?
This bug will receive a notification when that happens

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 635258] [NEW] Garbled chars in xterm

2010-09-10 Thread Loïc Minier
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Hi

Since the move from compiz 0.8.4 to 0.8.6, end pf July, I've had
corrupted chars in xterm as in the attached picture: some vertical bars
clutter the chars.

I checked with the compiz folks who told me this was triggered by a
compiz change, but was a xorg bug in my video card's driver (intel).

During Debconf I mentioned the bug to keithp who told me that this was a
known issue with a couple of patches in xorg-server 1.9.0 fixing it. We
were still in 1.8.x in Ubuntu.

Now we're at 1.9.x+ and I still get the issue; I think it wasn't the one
keithp thought of back then.

If I drag the window around, the content gets fixed.

GNOME Terminal doesn't show the issue.

Cheers,

Peter, I think you want to set BUILD_CC rather than call gcc directly.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 565981] Re: [KMS] gem objects not deallocated

2010-04-22 Thread Loïc Minier
So I have 2:1.7.6-2ubuntu7~xup2 packages from
ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates and it worked fine in the beginning and
seemed to help with the problem, but now I'm seeing 60%+ CPU (of one of
the two cores) being used in the Xorg process; laptop gets hot.

Nothing in xorg.log, nothing in .xsession-errors.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 565981] Re: [KMS] gem objects not deallocated

2010-04-22 Thread Loïc Minier
I stupidly tried stracing Xorg from a xterm on top of Xorg tsss :)

What's the proper way to look into the CPU consumption issue next time I
hit it? (just froze my laptop and had to reboot because of the strace,
so CPU is back to normal ATM)

I've updated my kernel cmdline to include the drm debug stuff, but I'm
less keen on running a 2.6.33 kernel; I realize this might help
debugging the upstream issue against tip, but I'm not sure what it
implies for other packages on my system.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 537198] [NEW] [gm45] GPU lockup 196a8ae225e93814bc208433db407a36

2010-03-11 Thread Loïc Minier
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Hi

Found the screen black with the backlight turned on when opening the lid
this morning (lid was closed, but computer wasn't suspended); the seqno
wasn't increasing in /sys/debug, so I think it's a GPU lockup.

(Is there a way to reset just the GPU when that happens? -- instead of
rebooting)

Thanks,

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 368394] Re: [i855] netbook launcher mouse focus is off

2010-02-28 Thread Loïc Minier
It is not invalid in karmic, it is invalid for netbook-launcher because
it was a driver bug, not a netbook-launcher bug.

I don't think the exact fix has been identified, nor whether it would be
easy to fix the bug in karmic, but given that the lucid release is in 2
months, I don't think it will be fixed in karmic.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 368394] Re: [i855] netbook launcher mouse focus is off

2010-02-28 Thread Loïc Minier
We try to fix bugs in the development distro; fixing them in releases
causes work duplication since we also have to fix them in the devel
distro. We have to stop spending time on fixing bugs in releases at
some point or we wouldn't ever make progress in the devel distro.

Most updates after a release are usually done in the month subsequent to
release; of course we will continue updating the releases for e.g.
security updates, or critical bug fixes such as timezone information
updates.

The fact that a new release with the fix is approaching at least gives
people with a bug a forward path which they will have to follow at some
point anyway.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 516676] Re: GPU hang on intel

2010-02-13 Thread Loïc Minier
I think I have this bug too; for a while I thought it was due to
ecryptfs because it happens very frequently while I'm switch message in
Mutt, and last time that was happening it was ecryptfs related, but
because the screen quickly stops updating and I can use the SysRq key to
reboot. I didn't have access to another computer to SSH into mine the
last time this happened, but I will check when this happens again and
confirm whether this is a GPU hang. I do see that CapsLock doesn't work
anymore after the hang which is why I thought my system had completely
frozen -- but thinking about it, it could be that the xorg events dont
get delivered anymore.

Please sync libxt 1:1.0.6-1 (main) from Debian testing (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
- -Wl,-Bsymbolic-functions filter was added in Debian 1:1.0.6-1

Changelog entries since current lucid version 1:1.0.5-3ubuntu1:

libxt (1:1.0.6-1) unstable; urgency=low

  [ Julien Cristau ]
  * New upstream release.
  * Don't export dependencies on libSM and libX11 in the Requires field of
xt.pc. They're already in Requires.private, and do more harm than good in
Requires. Thanks to Stephen Gran and Margarita Manterola for noticing.
  * Remove Branden from Uploaders with his permission.
  * Don't build-depend on packages with a -1 debian revision.
  * Bump Standards-Version to 3.7.3.
  * Drop the XS- prefix from Vcs-* control fields.
  * Drop (pre-)dependencies on x11-common from libxt6 and libxt6-dbg, that's
not needed.
  * Use ${binary:Version} instead of ${Source-Version}.
  * Remove pre-dependency on x11-common from libxt-dev, that was needed for
upgrades from sarge.
  * Parse space-separated DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS.
  * Allow parallel builds.
  * Run autoreconf on build.
  * Remove patch 01_use_extern_C_in_headers.diff, applied upstream.
  * Use --with-xfile-search-path rather than setting XFILESEARCHPATHDEFAULT
through CFLAGS directly.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 330906] Re: MASTER: GMA-500 lacks driver for 8.10 and 9.10 (poulsbo works only on 8.04 and 9.04)

2009-10-08 Thread Loïc Minier
@jimpop, this is not a place to vent your frustration. Would we have
received a suitable driver for the current kernels, we'd have uploaded
it in the ~ubuntu-mobile PPA or even to Ubuntu as we did for the
previous versions.

Intel has top quality drivers for its other chipsets, but not for
Poulsbo due to a complex IP issues. This is not in our control to fix
for them, and we don't have the resources to reverse engineer or forward
port the existing kernel bits (these were even rejected from staging in
the upstream linux kernel).

If you're aware of a forward ported or reverse engineered driver which
we could include, then this is the right place to mention it. I think
it's too late for the 9.10 release, but it could be prepared in a PPA or
considered for 10.04.

(Note that the recipes in this bug only apply to the xorg video driver but
don't cover the kernel counterparts which are needed for psb-drm and hence 2D
and 3D acceleration.)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 438044] [NEW] No keyboard and mouse on second startx login

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Hi

I login with startx (due to bug #438035), but if I logout and log back
in, I get no mouse or keyboard.

It's weird since when my computer starts, gdm comes up where mouse and
keyboard work, they work fine after gdm stop in the first startx
session, but they break in the second startx session.

Thanks

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 423518] Re: video-all metapackage includes many useless drivers on armel

2009-09-18 Thread Loïc Minier
Matt, xserver-xorg-video-all doens't pull -vga on armel.

The deps are different on armel and e.g. i386 or amd64.

-vesa is indeed pulled in, but it might actually make sense; I
understand some boards have PCI buses (I have two of them) and can host
an AMD card for instance.

Keep in mind that this is about getting things to work out of the box;
if you're building custom images you can seed explicitly the video
package you care about

Does that answer your concerns?

I agree that lack of i18n in fbreader is a blocker; I'm willing to
promote it if we have a path to deliver i18n before karmic releases, but
wouldn't want to recommend this app to non-English speakers until we do.

Thanks David; is there an upstream bug about this? What did upstream
think about switching to gettext? Is someone on the Ubuntu side of
things picking this up already?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 392410] Re: [MIR] UNR packages

2009-07-10 Thread Loïc Minier
Cheese DOES process video data, from the webcam, but that's ok.

I think the scrollkeeper build-dep should be replaced by rarian or
rarian-compat.

The man page should be installed via debian/cheese{,-hildon}.manpages.

src/gst-audio-play.h and src/gst-audio-play.c are LGPL not GPL.

Build-deps on libgconf2-4 instead of libgconf2-dev (gconf headers are
used in src/cheese-gconf.c for instance).

The libhal-dev bdep might become an issue in the future, but we can
worry about that later.

I also wonder whether a capplet should be suggested, but that's ok.

Could you please fix the copyright and bdep issues? This should be
enough. The manpages seem easy to fix too, but aren't required.

Perhaps we should also make the desktop team aware of the proposed new
responsibility for this package; Martin is this ok?

Debian; I fixed the scrollkeeper bdep there. I recommend merging a
later Debian version.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 392410] Re: [MIR] UNR packages

2009-07-10 Thread Loïc Minier
Clutter: misc small packaging tweaks which are not required and which I did in
Debian:
  * Downgrade pkg-config dep to a recommends.
  * Update download URL in copyright.
  * Use LDFLAGS/CFLAGS vars directly to avoid overriding them completely; bdep
on cdbs = 0.4.41.
  * Let libclutter-0.8-dev dep on ${shlibs:Depends}.
  * Bdep on libpango1.0-dev (= 1.18) and libglib2.0-dev (= 2.14)
explicitely.
there's a lintian warning due to lack of ${misc:Depends} which is fixed in
Debian.

Clutter currently fails to build on armel.

Upstream bug tracker seems to still be OH bugzilla:
http://bugzilla.o-hand.com/buglist.cgi?product=Clutterbug_status=UNCONFIRMEDbug_status=NEWbug_status=ASSIGNEDbug_status=REOPENEDbug_severity=blockerbug_severity=criticalbug_severity=major

Should the Canonical Mobile team or the Ubuntu UNR team be in charge of
this package?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 392410] Re: [MIR] UNR packages

2009-07-10 Thread Loïc Minier
Clutter-Gtk: I did these packaging changes in Debian:
  * Downgrade pkg-config dep to a recommends.
  * Let libclutter-gtk-0.8-dev depend on ${shlibs:Depends}.
  * Update download URL in copyright.
  * Bump shlibs to = 0.8.2 as this release added API.
  * Use LDFLAGS var directly to avoid overriding them completely; bdep on cdbs
= 0.4.41.
  * Bdep on pkg-config for PKG_CHECK_MODULES().
  * Bump libclutter-0.8-dev bdep and dep to = 0.8.7 to match configure.ac.
so nothing really critical

Licensing/copyright were ok.

clutter-gtk obviously failed to build on armel as well.

Hmm contrarily to your claims, clutter-gtk doesn't build a .pot;
probably uses the wrong CDBS include, please fix this.
