I think the live CD runs well on my laptop. The upgrade from 10.10 to
11.04 went well.

But now my laptop is at the shop for repair, someone else can confirm
that it is fixed in Natty ?

I own an ASUS K50IN Notebook. As reported on the forums the lucid won't
run out of the box.(http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=9096639)
and the hack to get it running is quite ugly:

I booted the live cd and went to console mode (Ctrl+Alt+F1):

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nvidia-current
sudo nvidia-xconfig

I then manually killed an xorg process I found running running:

ps ax | grep xorg

I started X and could install Lucid:

sudo modprobe nvidia-current
startx

After installation I had to do that again on the new installation. So
now I have it running with Nvidia proprietary drivers.
