[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 451903] Re: Must hold down Enter to boot Karmic

2009-10-15 Thread MadsRH
*** The system keeps crashing while I'm filling out the bug description
or submitting the bug report, so I'll be post the bug description below
***

When booting the harddrive stops loading data after displaying the
Usplash. If I hit Enter one time the harddrive starts loading again for
about a second or so, and then stops again. If I hold down the Enter key
constantly, the system will boot successfully.

Whenever the cursor is visible during the boot sequence, I can type in
text (as in the console), but then the boot won't continue. I should
mention that booting the live CD works just fine.

I hope this explains what I'm experiencing.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 447518] Re: Cannot boot Karmic BETA on Intel 852GM

2009-10-09 Thread MadsRH
It works now!

I'm sorry for not thinking of this before, but I tested the latest daily
build and it worked just fine. I also had this in Intrepid, so I'm glad
to see it gone.

I've changed the status to "Fix Released" - sorry for the noise.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 447518] [NEW] Cannot boot Karmic BETA on Intel 852GM

2009-10-09 Thread MadsRH
Public bug reported:

I can't boot the Karmic BETA live CD.
When I've selected "Try Ubuntu without any change to your computer" I see a
message only displayed very briefly:

[ 5.048001] ..MP-BIOS bug: 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC

Then the resolution change and the following message is displayed:

[ 5.642832] render error detected, EIR: 0x0010
[ 5.642839] [drm:i915_handle_error] *ERROR* EIR stuck: 0x10, masking
[ 5.642858] render error detected, EIR: 0x10

Nothing happens after this. The numbers [5.642858] seems to have changed
when I reboot.

I know this is old hardware and my not be top priority.
Toshiba Sattelite A30, Intel® 852GM, Mobile Intel® Celeron® 2.60 GHz

BTW, not sure if this is the right package.
