[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 458306] Re: X server locks up when Acrobat Reader is started
No longer seems to be happening with acroread 9.1.0-7jaunty2, and the same X server version. I am retaining a copy of the older acroread package so that I can reproduce this. I think a reproducible client- induced lockup in the Karmic-released X server is a serious bug which should be investigated, even if not triggered by current packages. I assume that Bryce Harrington was able to reproduce this too, so it's not just my hardware. I'm not familiar with the X protocol or how one would go about getting a trace of what the application is doing to cause this. But I'm happy to put some time in to help isolate a simple test case, if someone with more knowledge of these things could give me some pointers on how to get started. -- X server locks up when Acrobat Reader is started https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/458306 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I should add that it's acroread version 9.1.0-7jaunty2 which is triggering this. -- X server locks up when Acrobat Reader is started https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/458306 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 458306] [NEW] X server locks up when Acrobat Reader is started
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg If I run acroread, the X server locks up immediately. The Acrobat window never appears. Usually the cursor still moves, but the display doesn't update. In one case the cursor stopped moving too. Either way, I can still use Ctrl-Alt-Fn to switch VTs, and restart the X server, but the problem seems to be always repeatable. The machine is a Dell Latitude D610, with an ATI graphics chipset, using the radeon driver.
