[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1998001] Re: Missing tests from libdrm-tests

2022-12-06 Thread Michael Vogt
@Brian Once the archive is frozen this is not entirely trivial anymore
as the command-not-found indexfile is stored in the now frozen archive
mirror.

It seems the easiest way to fix is:
* uploading a higher version in the -updates pocket should fix the problem
automatically, the database code
(CommandNotFound/db/creator.py:_parse_single_commands_file()) should discard
the content of older versions. There are some useful ways to control what
commands are visible from the pkg, you could use "X-Cnf-Ignore-Commands:
kms-universal-planes" on the "libdrm-tests" binary package stanza (see
what-is-python for an example)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1318616] Re: lts-trusty enablement in precise

I just finished a full upgrade with the xorg-lts-transitional package
and can confirm that it works. Without the package bug #1347964 will be
triggered so it would be good if this could go in soon.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1304365] Re: Precise to Trusty - all of main - fails: Broken transition from libwayland0 to libwayland-client0

2014-04-08 Thread Michael Vogt
The wayland0 packages that has no newer version but some conflicts on
the old version confuses libapt when it tries to resolve the
dependencies. A simple dummay package for the transition does the trick
- the transitional package gets removed during the upgrade as well and
it can get removed immediately after trusty is released.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1008864] Re: software center crashes when clicking pay apps

2012-06-06 Thread Michael Vogt
Thanks for this additional information. It appears that the video driver does
not deal with the opengl code we use (which is very simple and essentially just
what glxinfo is doing). What is the output of:
$ lspci
(I'm interessted in the exact video card model).

Can you run tools like:
$ glxinfo
on the commandline? Or does that cause a crash as well?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 774999] Re: [i865G] Upgrade should warn user about lack of support for old 8xx intel hardware

2011-06-17 Thread Michael Vogt
Btw, this makes me wonder why we did not keep the old i810 driver
around. Given that we have support for xserver-xorg-video-s3 with cards
like Trio64 it seems like keeping old drivers working is possible
without too much maintenance work (but I may be totally wrong here ;).
And the old i810 driver did work reasonable on the old cards at least in
my experience.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 381852] Re: xfs package: /var/run/xfs/xfs.pid or /var/run/xfs.pid ?

2010-11-22 Thread Michael Vogt
Thanks a lot firstofall for the patch Eric and sorry that we took so
long to review it.

I tested the package it on my natty system (maverick has the same
version) and the bug appears to be fixed by now. Unfortunately the
original bugreport does not have the version information of xfs.

Inspecting the init script it now says:

PIDDIR=/var/run/xfs
PIDFILE=$PIDDIR/xfs.pid

and also
set_up_pid_dir () {
  if [ ! -d $PIDDIR ] ; then
mkdir $PIDDIR
chown debian-xfs $PIDDIR
  fi
}

So that appears to be fine now. I will close the bug. Please reopen if I
overlooked something.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 422202] Re: [P4M900] Laptop TFT flickers after wake up from S3 sleep

2010-11-22 Thread Michael Vogt
Thanks for your bugreport.

The ubuntu-sponsors team is subscribed to this bugreport. However its not
clear to me what actually needs sponsoring in this case. The only patch
atachment I can see is:
panel_unify.patch (4.9 KiB, text/plain)
(from comment #7). But in comment #8 and #10 Gabor reports no changes with the
patch or the latest openchrome.

I unsubscribe ubuntu-sponsors for now, please re-subscribe when there
is a working patch/debdiff.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 677129] Re: Please merge xterm 266-1 (main) from debian unstable (main)

2010-11-22 Thread Michael Vogt
Thanks for the xterm merge! I have two questions:

1. xterm-266/debian/gbp.conf is modified but that is not documented in
the changelog

2. The debian/changelog file also mentions:
 Remove setgid bit from the xterm binary (LP: #616100)
but I can not find in the debdiff where that is done.
(the original debdiff is here for this bug is here:
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/53489120/xterm_261-1ubuntu3.debdiff)

Could you please check if these questions ? In the meantime I will unsubscribe
ubuntu-sponsors as I would like to
clarify this before a new version is uploaded. Please just re-subscribe when
the open questions are answered :)

Thanks,
 Michael

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 614993] Re: 10.04 - 10.10 upgrade fails: pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks: Holding Back xserver-xorg-video-nouveau rather than change xorg-video-abi-8.0

2010-08-30 Thread Michael Vogt
The problem is that the package xserver-xorg-video-v4l is demoted from
main to universe. Apt will try to find a solution for the xserver
problem by upgrading to the latest xserver abi (because of the breaks).
But it can't find one because there is no newer version of xserver-xorg-
video-v4l available.

The best fix I can think of currently is a explict:

Package: xserver-xorg-core
Conflicts: xserver-xorg-video-v4l ( 1:0.2.0-4ubuntu1)

to ensure the upgrade works. I'm testing this now.

Another way is to use

Package: xserver-xorg-core
Conflicts: xserver-xorg-video-6

(but that is a rather strong statement, though it will help the resolver
to deal with the situation).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 570634] [NEW] immediate logout of the gnome session after hardy - lucid upgrade (inside kvm)

2010-04-27 Thread Michael Vogt
Public bug reported:

After a hardy - lucid cdrom only upgrade I get sometimes thrown out of
the gnome-session on login in my kvm test environment. It happens very
quickly, maybe after 1-2s, nothing is visible at this point other than
the background.

I added --debug to gnome-session but did not get any traces, apport is runing
but shows no crash in /var/crash. Nothing unusual in the Xorg.0.log, When
running compiz under ltrace it seems to stop always at the same call. This may
be a red-herring though, but its the best clue I have currently.

2010-04-27 Thread Michael Vogt

** Attachment added: ltrace log of compiz
   http://launchpadlibrarian.net/45703423/ltrace5

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

  After a hardy - lucid cdrom only upgrade I get sometimes thrown out of
  the gnome-session on login in my kvm test environment. It happens very
  quickly, maybe after 1-2s, nothing is visible at this point other than
  the background.

- I added --debug to gnome-session but did not get any traces, apport is
- runing but shows no crash in /var/crash. Nothing unusual in the
- Xorg.0.log, When running compiz under ltrace it seems to stop always at
- the same call. This may be a red-herring though, but its the best clue I
- have currently.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 494627] Re: nv driver crashing with segmentation fault in libpthread.so.0

2010-01-06 Thread Michael Vogt
Reopening, the crash is fixed with the patch but it turns out that the
colors are all wrong (just as Aaron wrote in his mail). I don't really
know why it worked well for me in my testing yesterday, but today the
colors are all wrong.

I think the best fix is to revert my patch and fix it in the xserver
itself, I attach a patch for this.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 494627] Re: nv driver crashing with segmentation fault in libpthread.so.0

2010-01-06 Thread Michael Vogt
This patch for xserver-core fixed the crash for me. The colors are also
correct (when reverting the stub gamme_set back to NULL) because xorg
uses the old-sytle colormap code in this case.

fglrx to check that it works well with the screensaver inhibit fix.
