2023-09-25 Thread Nathan Teodosio
I will, but just to update expectations: Each revision of Chromium in
beta and edge need to be manually reviewed because of a new plug[1].

So expect some a couple of days of delay. Or install it manually from
[2].

I'm committing this to edge only as there are reports of H264 failure in
the upstream tracker. Let's see if we can reproduce it.

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 2033433] Re: Chromium leaks tens of gigabytes of pixmaps (in the Xorg process) after using hardware accelerated video

2023-09-05 Thread Nathan Teodosio
Daniel, thanks a lot for guiding the debugging on this, and Andreas for
carrying the debugging out.

I thought incorrectly that this was already stated: The leak does not
happen with VAAPI disabled

--->
chromium
--disable-features=VaapiVideoDecoder,VaapiVideoEncoder,VaapiVideoDecodeLinuxGL
<---

(As such it does not occur in stable/candidate channels, that do not
have VAAPI merged in.)

We don't have much of a delta about hwacc with upstream right now, it's
mostly patches for Ozone (which doesn't get used in Xorg, correct me if
I'm wrong) and then the chromium.launcher that simply turns on some flags.

Patches:

Flags:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 2020604] Re: After Mesa upgrades, Chrome won't show graphics

2023-05-31 Thread Nathan Teodosio
For the lack of confirmation of #20 and since this is going to be
addressed in Mesa itself, I'm removing the workaround I had added to
Chromium.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 2020604] Re: After mesa upgrades, Chrome won't show graphics

2023-05-26 Thread Nathan Teodosio
The workaround is available in candidate channel (currently only ready
for amd64).

  snap refresh --candidate chromium

If someone could please verify the workaround, I can bump to stable.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1998641] [NEW] Sync xserver-xorg-video-vmware 1:13.3.0-3.1 from Debian unstable

2022-12-02 Thread Nathan Teodosio
Public bug reported:

The delta between 1:13.3.0-3 and 1:13.3.0-3ubuntu1 was introduced in LP:
#1991117 to fix a failure to build from source with GCC 12, as noted in
its change log:

  * d/p/fix-missing-array-notation.patch:
- cherry pick an upstream change to fix the build with the new gcc
  (LP: #1991117).

This cherry-pick has been incorporated in Debian (bug 1021182[1]), and
since that was the only delta, we can sync it.
