[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 667888] Re: Parts of text not rendered after scrolling

2010-10-30 Thread Nattgew
Maybe related:
Attached is a screenshot of Rhythmbox's title bar. Sometimes it loses parts of
the text, or some of it changes to the inactive color and some doesn't.
Also, whet I right click to get a menu or use menus in applications, sometimes
they only show parts of the menu, and I have to move the mouse down the entries
to get them to show correctly.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 667888] [NEW] Parts of text not rendered after scrolling

2010-10-28 Thread Nattgew
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

I notice this the most in Rhythmbox. If I scroll through music, some of the
rating stars on the right hand side lose their bottom half. Once the mouse is
moved over the row, they reappear. The rest of the text seems to be unaffected.
I also noticed it happened to the window title sometimes when switching between
workspaces, but I can't reproduce that for a screenshot right now.
When I take a screenshot, the screen refreshes and the stars are fine in the
screenshot. I took the attached image with a camera instead.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 201264] Re: [i965] compiz blur plugin very slow (UXA/EXA)

2010-10-24 Thread Nattgew
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 363174 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/363174

4xBilinear may be the fastest, but it barely blurs for me. Gaussian is the next
fastest, but it isn't as clean as Mipmap. Mipmap is slowest but looks better
than the others.
This bug shouldn't be a duplicate of 363174, that one is different and has been
fixed.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 647585] [NEW] X freezes after laptop lid is closed and opened

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 647599] [NEW] Mouse randomly left clicks after laptop lid closed and opened

2010-09-25 Thread Nattgew
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

When I close my laptop lid for a while and then come back and try to use it,
the mouse randomly left clicks for a while. It's very annoying and makes it
hard to do anything. I thought it was by Bluetooth mouse, but even when I turn
it off and just use the touchpad it still randomly clicks. After a minute or so
it stops, which makes me think it's related to heat or something.
I've had this problem for a while. The last two times I've opened the lid, X
has been frozen, so I won't be able to test it until that doesn't happen.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 555984] [NEW] GDM freeze on display of password box

2010-04-05 Thread Nattgew

I upgraded this machine to Lucid and am using an older Nvidia card with

GDM is then frozen and X restarts a few seconds after I try to type
anything.

When I use the Alt+Tab window switcher, it leaves behind a hint of what
it looked like after it's gone. It disappears once the area is redrawn
for an app it's on top of. I'm attaching a screenshot.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 440231] [NEW] After suspend, next (re)boot gives white screen on login

2009-10-01 Thread Nattgew
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Suspend works fine as far as I can tell.
But the next time I fully shut down and reboot, I get a white screen when I log
into Gnome. I can do the Compiz cube, but it runs slowly, and all desktops are
white.
I have to reboot again for login to work properly.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 439476] [NEW] After switching from external to laptop screen, graphics are very slow

2009-09-30 Thread Nattgew
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I sometimes boot my laptop with the lid closed and a monitor plugged in.
X correctly identifies this setup and uses only the external monitor. If
I unplug the external monitor, and then open the laptop, the resolution
seems to be set correctly, but everything moves at about 0.2 fps. The
mouse moves fine, but the screen only redraws every few seconds. It
seems like everything is running fine... the effects work, music plays.
But the screen only updates itself every few seconds. Restarting compiz
did nothing. I have to log out and back in.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 430241] [NEW] Intel couldn't allocate video memory

2009-09-16 Thread Nattgew
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

After some updates to Karmic today I had a bunch of problems...
First the disk was telling me the last mount time was in the future, and needed
to do a disk check.
I'm not sure if that caused my graphics problem or not...
But once I got past that, X would not start.
I'm attaching the log. It says something about not being able to allocate video
memory.
It did this on multiple boots, and gave the same thing when I ran startx.

Thanks for your comment. Are you using Intel, too? Could you provide
some log info?

I don't get a black screen, it goes black and then changes to the
console with boot output. I was able to Ctrl+Alt+F1 and login, but
startx gave me the same thing.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 430241] Re: Intel couldn't allocate video memory

2009-09-16 Thread Nattgew
Well I installed from Alpha 4 and then installed all of the updates. I
rebooted and it gave me no problems yet... we'll see how it does later.

Could you post your
lspci | grep VGA
and your Xorg.0.log of the problem?

I have an installation of Karmic on which blur works fine. I also have
an installation on which blur causes compiz to freeze... I think that's
something in my settings or something...

2009-08-25 Thread Nattgew
It looks like you have this bug...
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-96/+bug/391768
Try looking at your packages. The driver package may show up as broken, or give
you some info in a terminal similar to what you see on the linked bug.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 381872] Re: Keyboard layout on login screen (QWERTY) not consistent with keyboard layout when logged in (AZERTY) since upgrade

2009-08-10 Thread Nattgew
That second bug was marked as a duplicate... I'm not sure that's right.
I've upgraded two machines to Karmic from Jaunty and noticed that my Dvorak
layout switched to Qwerty for both.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 385232] [NEW] [i965] UXA Freeze

2009-06-09 Thread Nattgew
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

For a while now, I've been having X freezes with UXA. I can still move the
mouse, but nothing responds. If music is playing in Rhythmbox, it keeps
playing, but I think it stops after the current song. I have to do a hard
reboot or REISUB.
I started testing UXA with Jaunty a month or two before its release, and it was
fine. I started noticing that Gnome-Do would freeze X, though. I stopped using
that, but I still have freezes every once in a while.
If I'm using my laptop's screen @ 1280x800, the freezes are very rare. If I'm
using an external screen @ 1280x1024, it happens a little more often. When I'm
using both together though @ 1280x1824, I get a lot more freezes.
I think it happens without Compiz, too.
I'm not sure how to go about testing this. Let me know what info I can provide.
