[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 92599] Re: Incorrect (low/stuttering) refresh rate with NVIDIA driver
Got subscribed here by a bug that was marked as a duplicate, however disabling DynamicTwinView did not work for me. Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 92599] Re: Incorrect (low/stuttering) refresh rate with NVIDIA driver
I checked nvidia-settings and DynamicTwinView was definitely disabled. I also set the refresh rate in CCSM to 60Hz which is what my monitor runs at. Didn't make any difference. Sorry; I forget where it is exactly, and can't show you because I stopped using NVIDIA graphics a while ago. Also, try installing compizconfig-settings-manager. Then go to: System Settings Control Center CompizConfig Settings Manager Composite And check the Refresh Rate is the same as what your monitor is using. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/92599 Title: Incorrect (low/stuttering) refresh rate with NVIDIA driver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nvidia-drivers-ubuntu/+bug/92599/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA256 Steve Langasek wrote: X definitely isn't starting before usplash quits in karmic; the usplash upstart job is defined as: stop on (starting-dm or stopped rc RUNLEVEL=[2345] or starting rcS) and each of {gdm, kdm, xdm} is configured to emit the 'starting-dm' signal before it starts - so unless you're starting X by hand (in which case the usplash package can't be expected to fix that for you), this doesn't look like a usplash bug. There have been some fixes in the past couple of days to usplash's upstart job (usplash 0.5.41 and above), but nothing that should ever have caused usplash to be running concurrently with X on startup. The bug report shows that non-free nvidia drivers are in use. I think this is much more likely to be a bug in that driver; reassigning to nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 (whoop, please confirm which vintage of nvidia driver package you're using). ** Package changed: usplash (Ubuntu) = nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 (Ubuntu) I'm using the nvidia-glx-96 drivers. -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA256 Martin Olsson wrote: FWIW, the file /etc/X11/rgb.txt does exist (and gcolor2 shows the pre- defined colors properly) on my cleanly install ubuntu jaunty system (didnt check with live CD though). Also, if I run dpkg -S /etc/X11/rgb.txt it says that this file has been installed on my system by the x11-common package. Can you repro your issue on your live CD? Also, are you using ubuntu, kubuntu or xubuntu? Maybe it's broken on some of them and not all of them? I use ubuntu myself. This is a fresh install of Ubuntu Jaunty. I've also reproduced this on a freshly install virtual machine (Ubuntu Jaunty as well) and the live CD. On all of them gcolor2's preset color list is empty and rgb.txt is nowhere to be found. I found /etc/X11/rgb.txt on one of my other systems that has been upgraded numerous times, most likely left over from a previous release. Oddly on that system dpkg -S reports that it is in the x11-common package yet it's clearly not in there as I checked the file list myself. -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iQEcBAEBCAAGBQJKCfq2AAoJEIltSrFpUGtenEQIAMJTV/SVJUvsPTNpsAKOpdE1 eRQ4/qq9GHG0hEhOaXF+TSx02gaMt4cxQ3MHLOakxfZ4Ptr2wKtGusiGDXNEOj2i BQu0nuxV+IBCBrisiR4VJ3ZrXAwaL1eYPta9YqOjwuo23Z/WOQdtYhsne4JYPNXH x8UYYCWdzhmg8QzRcIK60hWbtxpEzBIi34wzY7xOPQMW4iXc0YjdLB3pN5Ogc+rC h3jcQxMRk0a6VQZmud0fF8UWEOoMrtpbxRoKZBHfFN3sOX5lr/6gM04CTIZlq/VO uzqLSYP50bBmxFNDVhqGU8Z8oqJfpdLIuk57Pd9Pz318DCtHdpRTYeEaQpDHfxQ= =6RWx -END PGP SIGNATURE- -- missing /etc/X11/rgb.txt file and broken link to it https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/300935 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
