[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1713313] Re: Unable to launch pkexec'ed applications on Wayland session

2018-08-09 Thread Oliver Grawert
> Now that Ubuntu has given up on Wayland by default

Ubuntu has not given up on Wayland by default but delayed it by one more
LTS (particulary because of bugs like this one).

Wayland by default is still the plan for the next LTS (and the interim
releases between 18.04 and 20.04). The incentive for transitioning the
apps has not dropped but it was clear that it could not be finished by
18.04.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1116791] Re: xterm and gnome-terminal should not be dependencies

2013-04-05 Thread Oliver Grawert
oh, and i wonder if instead of breaking xinit for the users that use it
by dropping the dep or demoting xterm to x-terminal-emulator if we could
probably just get away with not shipping it at all on the desktop
(indeed that gets us in debugging hell where users are asked to run
startx to produce a log etc, but we could just document that you have to
install xinit in such cases)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 421660] Re: gksu's and gksudo's modal password prompt prevents OnBoard's virtual keyboard input, causing accessibility issues

2013-02-07 Thread Oliver Grawert
The nexus7 issue is fixed (update-notifier does not pop up gksu anymore
but uses pkexec which is usable with onboard).

While gksu is still broken in this regard (so leaving that bug task
open) and xdiagnose still uses it (leaving that open as well) you will
not get into a situation on the nexus7 where xdiagnose runs (and even if
... you wouldnt have any input method at all)

For the nexus7 i consider this issue solved (we will solve it harder by
dropping gksu from the default install though)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 557817] Re: usb mouse is not working for ubuntu 10.04 arml

2010-05-24 Thread Oliver Grawert
the log above definately shows that this is no ubuntu kernel nor was the kernel
cmdline created by the ubuntu installer.
i will close this report, if you see the issue with an official ubuntu image
that was installed from one of the images pointed out at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/Beagle feel free to reopen, we can not support
third party kernels that do not use the ubuntu configuration and have seen no
QA with our images.

+ Formerly this collection was done via the ubuntu-mobile mailing list, which
is a subscription only list and the traffic of submissions from unsunscribed
people got to much of a maintenance burden for the list admins.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 385561] Re: broken fonts in firefox with kms enabled

2009-06-17 Thread Oliver Grawert
well, this bug was about karmic (which i run since may as every ubuntu
developer), not jaunty ...

it wasnt easily reproducable and only showed up after a few days of
usage, i havent seen it since a week or so (though i also run
firefox-3.5 now), so it might have been fixed with one of the recent
upgrades, feel free to close the bug, i will reopen it if it shows up
again.
