[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1626288] Re: X fonts and widgets disappear after suspend/resume cycle

2016-10-01 Thread Owen Williams
This happens to me too with intel graphics, although not on every
suspend / resume cycle. I'll test the mainline kernel and see if that
fixes the issue. My machine has had issues in the past with SNA
acceleration, this may be another case where falling back to UXA fixes
it.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1509776] Re: xubuntu 15.10 synaptics ps2 touchpad mouse cursor jumps

2016-02-03 Thread Owen Williams
I also started seeing this problem after I upgraded to 15.10. I'll be
typing and then the cursor will zip to one edge of the screen or the
other. I'm on a Dell XPS 13 (2013 model). Currently seeing the issue
with kernel 4.2.0-27

My current experiment is to kill syndaemon to see if palm detection is
the issue, and then being really really sure that I'm not touching the
touchpad while I type.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 92599] Re: Incorrect (low/stuttering) refresh rate with NVIDIA driver

2011-10-24 Thread Owen Williams
Deactivating Bailer and increasing the refresh rate do improve, but
don't completely fix the problems. glxgears is smoother, but still
jerks noticeably from time to time and gets much smoother as the window
size increases. And moving and resizing windows is still much, much
slower than with compiz 0.8.6.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 763005] Re: Compiz's "Sync to Vblank" makes display stutter/slow with some drivers (like fglrx)

2011-08-12 Thread Owen Williams
I'm also seeing all the same problems, including weird glxgears frame-
rates (which get better as the window gets bigger!) and unusuably slow
window resizing. GeForce 8400M GS, version 270.41.06

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 410829] Re: [GM965/GL960] Pressing Suspend key turns off display instead of suspending

2011-07-10 Thread Owen Williams
I started seeing this bug in Ubuntu Natty, and I don't know if the cause
was the same but I'm adding my experience here for others that find it
via googling. In my case, it turned out that since the upgrade, my
"suspend" button was now being interpreted as a "hibernate" button
instead. There was no entry in gconf for a hibernate command, so it
didn't know what to do.

The error in gnome-power-manager was:

- action: /apps/gnome-power-manager/buttons/hibernate set to blank (The
hibernate button has been pressed.)

Adding a key called /apps/gnome-power-manager/buttons/hibernate and
setting that to the value of "suspend" fixed the problem

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 426003] Re: keyboard - keys repeat multiple times

2009-10-05 Thread Owen Williams
I get this bug too on my dell m1330, only with the -rt kernel (Jaunty)
and (so far) only after I've suspended and resumed the machine at least
once. I don't think it's ever happened on a clean boot.
