[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1670717] [NEW] Unity8/mir working on VMware due to bypass not working
Public bug reported: Related to this bug (bug #1480755) - this is the issue preventing unity8/mir working in VMware. Bringing it out into its own issue to improve visibility. Choice quotes from previous bug: The problem is (annoyingly) that Mesa 10.5.9 on wily (Intel Haswell) returns 7 compatible EGLConfigs for EGL_ALPHA_SIZE=0 but all of them have EGL_ALPHA_SIZE == 8 set. Added a Mesa task. RAOF has suggested we should just fix Mesa. When asking for RGBA of 8880 it should provide at least one EGLConfig that is 8880 instead of always . This should be possible. It's not entirely clear why we're not getting XRGB visuals currently, but it's fixable. ** Affects: mesa (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: unity8 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: Related to this bug (#1480755) - this is the issue preventing unity8/mir working in VMware. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 649809] Re: the session settings manager can try starting before the login screen one exits
Having the same issue in Oneric, random occurences, sometimes reboot works, sometimes requires multiple reboots. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 819684] [NEW] No video after logout on Lenovo x220
Public bug reported: Not every time, but many times when I logout the screen goes blank and never comes back. I try switching to a text login (i.e. vt2) and I still get nothing. The only way to rectify the situation is to switch to a text vt - even though there is no video - and press the power button to initiate a controlled shutdown (not a hard power off). Not sure what trouble shooting information I can get you so please let me know if you need additional information. *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 447181 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/447181 (notice says this is a duplicate but I couldn't see anything linking this to a duplicate bug, hence my post. Apologies if this causes a problem). I had exactly the same problem. I fixed it by: 1 - Uncommenting deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/xorg-edgers/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates/ubuntu jaunty main in my sources.list file. 2 - run synaptic, Reload, and then search for the xserver-xorg-video-intel module. Highlight it and then go to the menu item Package/Force version I selected the 2:2.6.3-0ubuntu9.3 (jaunty updates) and then selected 'install' this ran, i rebooted, and everything is back to normal. I think I may have been using the xorg-edgers and x-updates PPAs for compiz (can't remember - longer than a month ago!), but I don't use compiz any more (gone back to metacity with compositing) so can't say if it breaks compiz. -- [i945] No screens found / none have usable configuration on Intel 945GM https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/447427 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 422224] [NEW] two-finger scrolling does not work on Acer AO531h
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics I'm running Karmic Alpha 4 + updates as of 30 Aug 2009. On my Acer Aspire One 531h netbook I can enable edge-scrolling, but two-finger scrolling does not work at all. When two-finger scrolling is set in the Mouse Preferences dialog edge scrolling is disabled and attempting to scroll with two fingers just moves the mouse cursor. The gconf setting is getting set correctly, but the setting seems to have no effect. Or rather just doesn't work. Enable edge scrolling: - 1. System -> Preferences -> Mouse 2. Click on the "Touchpad" tab 3. Set "Scrolling" to "Edge scrolling" $ gconftool-2 --get /desktop/gnome/peripherals/touchpad/scroll_method 1 Scrolling works just fine in Firefox. Enable two-finger scrolling: --- 1. System -> Preferences -> Mouse 2. Click on the "Touchpad" tab 3. Set "Scrolling" to "Two-finger scrolling" $ gconftool-2 --get /desktop/gnome/peripherals/touchpad/scroll_method 2 Neither edge nor two-finger scrolling works in Firefox. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 357901] Re: xinerama mouse cursor on every screen
The mouse cursor appearing on the wrong screen (it also becomes locked there) has been reported in other bugs, eg bug 363375. Easy work around is to alt+drag a window across from screen 3 (where the cursor always appears to get stuck) to screen 1. If the cursor is on screen 2 but is acting like it is positioned over screen 3 then move it to screen 1 and it will not get stuck, however moving to screen 3 will cause it to get stuck. -- xinerama mouse cursor on every screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/357901 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I wasn't aware that you could use the FX 5200 with 180.xx driver release. Maybe you are using the 173.14.xx release too? I'm don't think I'm able to try it the other way, i.e 173.14.xx on the newer system as I don't think that release supports the 9 series GPUs. If anyone else is reading this with 7/8 series GPUs someone needs to test to see if this bug is present in 173.14.xx but not in 180/185. -- Mouse cursor wraps around current screen when animated using Xinerama https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/383209 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 383209] Re: Mouse cursor wraps around current screen when animated using Xinerama
Using the 173.14.18 legacy driver I also have this problem. Oddly the mouse never seems to get stuck on the central screen. However, sometimes the mouse will be on the middle screen, while highlighting text the mouse will act like it is located on either one of the outer screens performing the action there (for example selecting text on the inner monitor could result in highlighting an area of the desktop on the left or right screen). When attempting to move the cursor from the central screen it will then warp (presumably by one screen width) and get stuck wrapping on an edge screen. However, on a newer machine where the 185.19 beta driver can be used this bug is not a problem. In both cases the machines are using the patched xserver from the m0sia ppa to resolve the cursor left on each screen (bug #357901). Kris, do you have the chance to try the Nvidia 185.19 beta driver? Also, when your cursor becomes stuck if you drag a window the first screen crossing it makes the cursor moves as expected but the window itself warps now, followed by crossing the next boundary with the window snapping to the cursor position and the cursor becomes un-stuck? -- Mouse cursor wraps around current screen when animated using Xinerama https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/383209 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

@Jerone, You are incorrect the kernel patch is *NOT* in proposed. It is in the tree but not in proposed. This most likely will not make the cut for an Intrepid SRU. We are only enabling HW on Jaunty. Additionally if this did get passed by the SRU team you will not see it for another few months as the current kernel in proposed will have to go into -updates, then the next proposed kernel will have to soak for 6+ weeks prior to getting into -updates. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Wishlist ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => In Progress ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Assignee: Canonical Kernel Team (canonical-kernel-team) => Stefan Bader (stefan-bader-canonical) -- [g41] [West Lake] System unable to detect optimized graphic resolution. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/338598 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
