[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1902361] [NEW] Delete key inputs Unicode Delete character (007F) instead of deleting the next character

2020-10-31 Thread Petr Doležal
Public bug reported:

When pressed, the delete key inputs the Unicode 007F character instead
of deleting the following character. In most cases, this is difficult to
see, but in a terminal, the 007F is clearly visible.

The xev output for the key press is following:

KeyPress event, serial 36, synthetic NO, window 0x421,
root 0x5df, subw 0x0, time 81101326, (1403,948), root:(1453,1062),
state 0x0, keycode 119 (keysym 0x, Delete), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 1 bytes: (7f) ""
XmbLookupString gives 1 bytes: (7f) ""
XFilterEvent returns: False

KeyRelease event, serial 36, synthetic NO, window 0x421,
root 0x5df, subw 0x0, time 81101443, (1403,948), root:(1453,1062),
state 0x0, keycode 119 (keysym 0x, Delete), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 1 bytes: (7f) ""
XFilterEvent returns: False

This is a new fresh install of Ubuntu 20.04, I don't remember the delete key
working at any point since the installation.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1713628] Re: My mouse doesn't work as expected

2018-02-13 Thread Petr Qvits
My mouse name is Elecom M-TC01DBM. I have several instances of mouse in xinput
↳ M-TC01DBid=13 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ M-TC01DBid=14 [slave pointer (2)]
↳ M-TC01DBid=12 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ M-TC01DBid=17 [slave keyboard (3)]
When I try xinput test 13 or xinput test 17 I've got some events in terminal.
device 13 has button-map 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
and 17 hasn't. So I want to remap some gesture in attachment.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1590590] Re: Touchpad not recognized on Dell Latitude E7470 Ultrabook

2017-01-17 Thread Petr Chmelar
Hi, I find this combination with @sdruskat to be most usable and quite
comfortable:

xinput set-prop "AlpsPS/2 ALPS DualPoint Stick" "Device Accel Profile" 2
xinput set-prop "AlpsPS/2 ALPS DualPoint Stick" "Device Accel Constant
Deceleration" 4
xinput set-prop "AlpsPS/2 ALPS DualPoint Stick" "Device Accel Adaptive
Deceleration" 40
xinput set-prop "AlpsPS/2 ALPS DualPoint Stick" "Device Accel Velocity Scaling"
1
xinput set-prop "AlpsPS/2 ALPS DualPoint Stick" "Evdev Wheel Emulation Inertia"
80

Also, I don't need the ImPS/2 Generic Wheel Mouse anymore :)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1590590] Re: Touchpad not recognized on Dell Latitude E7470 Ultrabook

2016-12-24 Thread Petr Chmelar
The driver is a very nice Christmas gift, thank you, guys.

These settings make the Dell stick somehow Thinkpad feel:
xinput --set-prop "AlpsPS/2 ALPS DualPoint Stick" "Device Accel Profile" 2
xinput --set-prop "AlpsPS/2 ALPS DualPoint Stick" "Device Accel Velocity
Scaling" 3
xinput --set-prop "AlpsPS/2 ALPS DualPoint Stick" "Device Accel Constant
Deceleration" 7
xinput --set-prop "AlpsPS/2 ALPS DualPoint Stick" "Device Accel Adaptive
Deceleration" 7

You can play with these values and if we agree on some values, they
should be set by default, because the default setting makes the stick
really unusable.

Also, I didn't find how to slow down the mid-button scrolling speed :(

the trackpoint but also the keyboard, because the touchpad is still on

2016-11-18 Thread Petr Chmelar
No @bagl0312, this is not fixed in
Linux p37470 4.4.0-47-generic #68-Ubuntu SMP Wed Oct 26 19:39:52 UTC 2016
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I spoke to some Dell representatives and they told me that anyone with
Premium Support can report the this issue and they are supposed to fix
it, because the Premium Support includes both hardware and software
issues.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1568604] Re: Mouse cursor lost when unlocking

2016-04-23 Thread Petr Gladkikh
I have similar issue on Lenovo B50-70 with AMD/Intel graphics, Xubuntu.
Switching to text console and back to Ctrl+Alt+F7 does restore cursor.
I have also noted that
1. Disabling discrete AMD card in BIOS this issue still persists.
2. After waking from lock/suspend there is cursor in unlock screen but cursor
disappears after session is unlocked

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1307165] Re: Unable to Handle Kernel Paging Request at

2014-04-14 Thread Petr
Just restarted the system and got this error without a crash

Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at (null)

and it was caused by palse audio as you can see on the screen shot. The
last couple of times it crashed when I playing a song in a flash player
online. It happened pretty quickly - during the first 2 songs, so I am
suspicious it is to do with audio this time, not video driver.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1307165] [NEW] Unable to Handle Kernel Paging Request at

2014-04-13 Thread Petr
Public bug reported:

Together with screen freezes in https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1267421
I get crashes about twice a day with black screen as shown on the
attached screen shot 20140413_132707.jpg.

I found a similar post
http://askubuntu.com/questions/408341/bug-unable-to-handle-kernel-paging-request-at-while-installing-ubuntu
and tried setting as described here
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1613132 various options:
- nomodeset: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=quiet splash nomodeset
stopped from logging into the system. After entering password in the login
screen nothing is happening, though the mouse can be moved
- acpi_osi=Linux: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=quiet splash nomodeset
acpi_osi=\Linux\
seems to have no effect.

Also did a full memory test with memory86+. No problems found.

With Gnome it happens much less frequently, with Unity - up to 2-3 times

2014-01-31 Thread Petr
 tags: added: needs-problem-summary needs-trusty-test

dozens of people are reporting it. trusty-test is:
1. set up a pc or a laptop,
2. Make sure you trace everything what happens in the system before the freeze.
2. Run it for a week with Unity and Chrome - and it can deffo be reproducible.

What other kind of trusty test are we looking for an intermittent
problem?

On my real machine I stopped using Chrome and for a few days now have not had
any freezes.

2014-01-09 Thread Petr
Oddly, the problem seems to have gone away after some updates and a
switch to GNOME 3.10.1.

I will switch to that later, if not using chrome does not work. Though
I have not been using Chrome today and have not had any freezes today,
which happen a few times a day usually.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1254726] Re: no working graphic drivers for nvidia graphic card - unusable ubuntu desktop

2014-01-09 Thread Petr Nosek
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1251042 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1251042

Hi Christopher,

I think, we can close this bug. This bug is reported there:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-
drivers-331/+bug/1251042

It's about nvidia drivers. I will report it as a duplicate of bug
1251042.

Nouveau looks like more stable, after upgrading my BIOS. But still
testing. Sometimes nouveau freezes - I'm using Gnome - no effects. But
it looks usable for office.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1184451] Re: Ubuntu 13.10 random screen freeze while Normal OS activites

2014-01-08 Thread Petr
My laptop has 32 GB RAM. It froze and when I decided to switch it off
and held the power button for 1 sec, it magically unforze. htop was
opened at the time and showed that chrome consumed all of 32 GB of
memory. When I killed it, the memory came down to 400 Mb. I think this
is a Chrome bug. I am using Firefox for now and will see whether it
happens again or not.
