It seems to me that this problem appears much more frequently with Chrome, but I've had it also with Firefox. It's only been a couple of weeks though, everything has always worked fine for me until a system update two weeks ago. I have a Radeon HD 4350/4550. Same problem here. This affect apparently pretty much everyone with open source amd drivers (I am running x86_64) as far as I can tell.
