The same problem here, on Samsung rf511 with Intel chipset. I my case this is related with unknown display that I found in gnome-control-center. At beginning I turned it off and now I realized this prevents from waking up. Touchpad works great after doing Carl walk-through on RF510. Driver module should now compile and install when new kernel will be installed - am I right? There is only one problem - after booting touchpad works fine on user selection screen, but when I log on, it's disabled. I can enable it only using /usr/bin/synclient TouchpadOff=0 command. Adding a proper option to Xorg.conf or adding this command to programs started automatically, didn't work.
