[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1136699] Re: xserver crash in drm_vblank_count_and_time

2013-03-13 Thread Rick Spencer
I've been updating regularly. I haven't seen any video issues for a week
or so. This no longer seems to be happening to me.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1136699] [NEW] Intel Graphics instability/unreliability

2013-02-28 Thread Rick Spencer
Public bug reported:

Starting some weeks ago my graphics has been misbehaving a bit. This
started with starting in low graphics mode from time to time, or booting
to a VT instead of the LightDM greeter. Today I had a complete crash
while running a Google Hangout. I've attached a picture of the screen
output in case that's helpful.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 965003] Re: dell mini 10v touchpad dragging stopped working

2012-05-15 Thread Rick Spencer
Furthermore, I notice that drag and drop does not work at all after a
resume. I suspect this was the "x-factor" that led to the inconsistent
behavior. Note that drag and drop works after I log out and log in
again.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 965003] Re: dell mini 10v touchpad dragging stopped working

2012-04-01 Thread Rick Spencer
Ok, I figured out what is going on. Many releases ago, I was trained to
use just my fingernail on the bottom edge of the trackpad for left
clicking while scrolling. If I do that now, drag and drop does not work.
If I use my finger more fully on the button area, it works.

happened, but I don't think it's worth pursuing this bug at this point.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 733989] [NEW] dragging with Dell Mini 10v track pad is unforgiving

2011-03-12 Thread Rick Spencer
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Steps:
1. Have a Dell Mini 10v
2. Open a window such as a terminal in restored mode (that is not maximized)
3. Point with the trackpad to the title bar
4. Left click with the trackpad as usual
5. Drag the window

Result:
Dragging does not work

Workaround:
Ensure that you are clicking just on the very lowest corner of the trackpad,
and then dragging works

Expected:
The area on the trackpad that supports clicking, and the area that supports
dragging are the same

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 708998] Re: Desktop freezes intermitently

2011-02-11 Thread Rick Spencer
I do not think I am still experiencing this particular issue. I have
been experience a freeze on alt-tab at times, but I can switch to VT,
kill compiz, and then use unity --reset to get back to work. I chalked
this up to a compiz bug. I have updated today, and will log a bug report
for that freeze should it occur again. For safe measure, I will grab the
data that you asked for here.

In any case, I think this particular bug report is probably not worth
tracking atm. Please feel free to set it to invalid or otherwise close
it.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 708998] [NEW] Desktop freezes intermitently

2011-01-27 Thread Rick Spencer
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Occasionaly my screen will freeze. I can switch to a VT, but no
processes are taking significant resources. If I switch back to VT7 the
first time only the top panel can paint. If I switch to a VT and back
again, none of the desktop can paint.

Please note that I have been writing code to integrate with the sound
menu, and I have the vague feeling that this could be causing unity, and
by extension compiz, some weird problems.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 511001] Re: [i855] Lucid Freeze shortly after X startup (needs KMS blacklist?)

2010-04-14 Thread Rick Spencer
This is an unfortunate situation. There is a non-trivial number of users
with 845 and 855 chips who are impacted by a regressions in stability in
the current x stack when running 3d and KMS.

We have opted for a "stability first" approach for these users. We will
disable 3D and KMS for these chips in Lucid final release. This will
have the unfortunate effect of disabling compiz. This will introduce a
functional regression. So we will be sacrificing functionality for these
users in favor of stability. This is a painful choice to make, but we
feel that stability must trump functionality when we are forced to make
such choices.

We will be pursuing functional fixes. However, we will do this outside
the main release, for example in a PPA. If we are able to provide a fix
that delivers stability and functionality, we will consider this a
potential SRU in 10.04.1.
