[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1957094] Re: on-demand mode doesn't work with nvidia-390

2022-01-21 Thread Robie Basak
Hi Jeremy,

It's not your fault. This is something your sponsor is supposed to have
checked.

@Alberto

Please could you properly review this, make sure it meets SRU policy,
try to anticipate and answer any questions the SRU team might have in
advance, and then work with Jeremy to resubmit to the queue? It's not
good enough just to sponsor and leave - for example in this case it'd
just get lost because Jeremy isn't aware that the upload needs to be
resubmitted. You need to stick with your sponsorees all the way through
until SRUs land in -updates and no regressions have been found please.

  ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION:

I'm running Ubuntu Lucid development branch.

Pressing alt-f2 switches the screen to the second virtual terminal.
Alt-f3 does the same to the third and so on. I expected alt-f2 to open
  the run dialog.

I'm pretty sure that my keyboard is not malfunctioning as I can use all
my applications normally. (Pressing O and Ctrl-O do not have the same
  effect.)

I'm not sure which package I should file this bug against. I'll happily
do an apport-collect once I know.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1768610] Re: leftover conffile forces GNOME is software rendering

2018-06-13 Thread Robie Basak
It seems to me that the most likely area of SRU regression would be an
accidental functional change in 50_check_unity_support in the case of a
user using a previous release. For SRU verification, in addition to the
test case, please could you also check that the previous release
correctly sets LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE in the four cases of Unity vs. not-
Unity and unity_support_test and !unity_support_test?

bug 1132736 xorg-lts-trusty from Confirmed to Won't Fix? Please see last
comment for rationale. Thanks!

Users may still want to upgrade from an EOL release to a supported
release though. Surely we should encourage this!

I think the bug sounds valid for Trusty still and an SRU to Trusty
shouldn't be rejected on this basis if someone wants to contribute one.
Won't Fix generally implies that we'd reject a fix even if were
contributed, and I don't think that's the case here.

Upstream pyopenssl consider this fixed in 16.2.0, which is in Zesty, so

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1568604] Re: Mouse cursor lost when unlocking with Intel graphics

2016-07-28 Thread Robie Basak
@Sean

Thank you for the patch. This looks too big to review to me, although
other sponsors may disagree. So, though I don't usually work in the
desktop area, I disagree with your statement "Regression potential here
seems minimal". This might be why some other sponsors have been
unwilling to touch this. Can I suggest that you bisect the changes to
find the single fix needed to solve the problem, and then submit a
debdiff with just that change? SRU policy says that to minimise
regression risk to users, we should backport a minimal fix where
possible.

This might not apply if there is a bigger picture plan to update the
Intel driver, but I presume there isn't one since this bug has
languished for a while.

HTH.
