Not for 16.04.0-16.04.2 as far I remember, but still issue for 16.0.3
and 16.04.4. I guess as soon as 16.04.5 get released this issue should
be harder to reproduce, just like in 18.04 now.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1482312] Re: After upgrade from Kubuntu 15.04 to Kubuntu 15.10 X Server starting to crash every few days

2015-08-06 Thread RussianNeuroMancer
I tried to attach additional logs using apport-collect, but unable to do
this probably due to bug 1439784.

Please let me know which logs you need.

** Description changed:

After upgrade from Kubuntu 15.04 to Kubuntu 15.10 X Server starting to
crash every few days. Sometimes crash may happen few times per day. This
crash is reproducible with packages from main repository and from Xorg
Edgers PPA. Attached logs is crated with Xorg Edgers PPA.

Please look into attached xorgcrash file. Other relevant logs is Xorglog2 and
gdb-Xorg2.txt.
- If this matter, Xorg also crash on login if I trying to start with glamor or
modesetting driver (but I doesn't sure it's a same crash). I didn't tried
modesetting driver in Kubuntu 15.04, but glamor works for sure (with some
issues, but at least it doesn't crash on login).

Currently libg3dvl-mesa is provide working VDPAU on radeon driver (up to
1080p 30 fps) with Linux 3.10, so it would be nice to have it available
in Saucy. Please review current situation with libg3dvl-mesa one more

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1173217] Re: Screen edges are in the middle of the screen! AMD Radeon HD7570M

2013-05-02 Thread RussianNeuroMancer
Looks like you have proprietary driver installed. Did you tried to uninstall it
and use FOSS driver instead? (Uninstall fglrx package, remove
/etc/X11/xorg.conf and reboot.)
You also may try to update fglrx driver
http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Ubuntu_Raring_Installation_Guide and if this
doesn't help contact with AMD technical support:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1054257] Re: [fglrx] Compiz (opengl) - Fatal: glXQueryExtensionsString is NULL for screen 0

2012-10-19 Thread RussianNeuroMancer
> installing fresh FGLRX from ATI page failed to solve issue
1.
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/linux/legacy/Pages/legacy-radeon_linux.aspx
fglrx 8.97 (Catalyst 12.6 Legacy) support legacy hardware (pre-HD5000) but
doesn't support xserver 1.13 so it can not work on Quantal.
2. http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/linux/Pages/radeon_linux.aspx
fglrx 9.00 published on AMD web-site (Catalyst 12.9 Beta, August build) is
doesn't support xserver 1.13 so it can not work on Quantal. It also doesn't
support legacy hardware.
3. https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer
fglrx 9.00 published in Ubuntu repository (September build) is support xserver
1.13 but it doesn't support Radeon HD 46xx so you can not use this driver on
Quantal.

So in my opinion you most likely experience different issue. Solution
is: uninstall proprietary driver or use proprietary driver on Precise.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 823062] [NEW] Please provide Mesa with floating point texture support and GL_S3_s3tc support in Jockey, like proprietary drivers

2011-08-08 Thread RussianNeuroMancer
Public bug reported:

Now Mesa with floating point texture support and GL_S3_s3tc support is
already available in Xorg-Edgers PPA, but this PPA is designed to
provide unstable stuff and sometimes requer kernel update, to get video
drivers working. It's can not be used by typical user on daily basis.

I suggest to provide Mesa-build with floating point texture support and
GL_S3_s3tc support (libtxc-dxtn0 in "requered dependecy" list) in
Jockey, like proprietary drivers.

Many users have a legal right to not comply United States patent law. In
the past and now such users install restricted addons/extras package and
get H.264, AAC, DTS, etc. decoding support. I suggest to extend this
practice to 3D stuff in Ubuntu and also install floating point texture
support and GL_S3_s3tc support by default, if user select checkbox in
installer.

Notably it's important because now FOSS drivers (for example radeon
driver) in some cases can offer almost of 60-80% speed (in compare with
proprietary drivers) on middle- high-end GPU. It's already acceptable
for many users.

** Description changed:

  From https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30068
"XWarpPointer should generate Motion but not RawMotion (it's RAW, right?). And
it definitely generates wrong RawMotion, because it contains valuators' values
equal to absolute screen coordinates of mouse move target (and that is
definitely wrong, since all other mouse events are relative).

So, my point is that XWarpPointer shouldn't generate RawMotion events at
  all."

He also includes a small testcase.

Happens in Ubuntu 10.10 and 11.04 (or any Ubuntu with XInput2 support).
Affects apps that use xinput2, e.g. wine as of roughly wine-1.3.20 or later.

Drives users nuts... the main menu of Bioshock Demo and many other
games is nearly completely useless because of the jumping mouse
- when xinput2 is used; see http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27380
+ when xinput2 is used; see http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27156

The lead Wine developer, Alexandre Julliard, has been waiting for this
bug to be fixed for some time now. He's trying to work around it,
  without much luck so far.

Maybe there possible other way to make install of acceleration video
support easy?

Just for example:
Now Jockey show nVidia or AMD proprietary drivers in the list, when there is
supported hardware and when drivers is available. So maybe when
multiverse/universe repo is avilable AND there is supported hardware AND
proprietary driver is already istalled, Jockey will suggest to install one of
this packages (xvba-va-driver or vdpau-va-driver) as "Additional package for
video acceleration"?

Please think about it.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 637675] Re: XF86Battery should open power management
