[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1967951] Re: hotplug external monitor logs me out
I have been using Ubuntu 22.04 for several months, initially Ubuntu on wayland was working but at some point Ubuntu on wayland stopped working (It doesn't even show up as an option on the gdm3 login screen). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1967951] [NEW] hotplug external monitor logs me out
Public bug reported: Summary: When hotplugging an external monitor, I am sent immediately to the login screen. Actions: Boot my laptop either with or without the external plugged in and then log in to my user account. If the monitor is not plugged in, plug it in. Expected result: The monitor is detected and the previous monitor configurations are loaded. Actual result: When the monitor is detected, I am immediately sent to the login screen. On X, with either HDMI or usb c port: I need to log in again. The monitor is detected and functions as expected once I have logged in. On sway with HDMI: I can change to tty2 (where my sway session was started) and the monitor is detected and functions as expected. On sway with usb c: I cannot log in again. It is stuck in a log-in loop. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1873403] Re: [nvidia] Screen turns off when trying to set some fractional scaling values
Just to add I found that on the unscaled screens the text and general look was a little fuzzy. I assume this is something to do with the scaling going on. Also if fractional scaling is turned off I cannot set the 4k screen to 200% on its own as all screens then get set to 200%. I know its not related to this but VLC also does not work when scaling is on(Atleast for me), I assume this is more of an issue for VLC not Ubuntu. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1873403 Title: [nvidia] Screen turns off when trying to set some fractional scaling values To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/+bug/1873403/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Ive just tried this again this morning 1. 2560 x 1440 2. 3840 x 2160 3. 1920 x 1200 I set fractional scaling to 1.50 on screen 2 (Others 100%) For the session it works perfectly fine, But after logging out and logging back in the settings do not get saved (Nvidia gtx 1080 with 440 driver) This was not working before, So I assume some updates have been made in this area?
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1870725] Re: artifacts appearing on gnome shell
I believed I narrowed down the issue to how gnome-shell uses Xorg. As said before GDM did not have any issues, and (i may be seriously wrong here) GDM uses Wayland by default. When I launch the Ubuntu desktop with Wayland, the graphical issue went away and is running smoothly. So I narrowed down the issue to Xorg or gnome-shell. So I went ahead and installed Cinnamon DE which uses Xorg, and the issue did not arise. My theory is that gnome-shell has a problem with rendering the shell (not programs) with Xorg. I also attached another image showing the problem, could the issue be the compositor??? ** Attachment added: "Screenshot from 2020-04-04 13-11-46.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1870725/+attachment/5346554/+files/Screenshot%20from%202020-04-04%2013-11-46.png ** No longer affects: ubuntu-meta (Ubuntu) ** Also affects: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1870725 Title: artifacts appearing on gnome shell To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1870725/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1615871]
I experience bad performance with accelerated compositing mode on using WebkitGTK+ 2.22.5 on Fedora 29 with Intel Iris 540 (Skylake mobile) graphics. Turning it off makes pretty much everything faster, but particularly Facebook, which is nearly unusable with accelerated compositing on. Also, when playing videos or scrolling through a site like Facebook, the laptop becomes hot and the fan goes full blast, which does not happen with accelerated compositing off. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1784488] [NEW] libwacom touch strip mappings are reversed for cintiq 21ux
Public bug reported: In the location libwacom/ the file 'cintiq-21ux2.tablet' has the wrong button mapping for the touch strips. This error causes the LED lights/touch strip modes to correspond to the buttons on the opposite sides of the cintiq, rather than their correct groupings. The Cintiq has 4 LED lights that represent 4 different modes that a center button toggles between. There is one center button and 4 LEDs on each side of the Cintiq that correspond to a touch-strip. The expected action is that by pressing the center button, it would change the button mappings of the touch-strip located directly behind the center button. The Leds would reflect this change by lighting up a different led. Continued presses would toggle between the 4 LEDs/modes. What is happening is the button toggle is not changing the mappings of the touch-strip directly behind it, instead it's changing the button mappings for touch-strip on the other side of the Cintiq. At the end of the file, you will see : 'Touchstrip=A' and 'Touchstrip2=J' These should be corrected as 'Touchstrip=J' and 'Touchstrip2=A'. After correcting my file, the button mapping in Wacom Tablet works correctly. I believe this issue is a kernal one, but the problem can be solved by simply changing the file that libwacom has. ** Affects: libwacom (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to libwacom in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1784488 Title: libwacom touch strip mappings are reversed for cintiq 21ux To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libwacom/+bug/1784488/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Reply to #12 It's an instant showstopper for Windows 10 users as well, suggesting to me that it's a hardware/driver problem. It has so much less resolution compared to my old Samsung R580's touchpad! It's impossible to target handles in Adobe Illustrator or to accurately target enemies in games, not to mention everyday mis-clicks that happen in the OS. It's driving me mad and I'm about to rip the touchpad out and just hack in an R580 pad that I can trust. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1176857 Title: Touchpad resolution too coarse on thinkpad X230 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/1176857/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1606122] [NEW] Cairo drawing coordinates are broken w/nouveau (affects xfwm4)
Public bug reported: I'm using xfwm4 with Xubuntu 16.04. With compositing enabled, and when I cycle through windows with Alt-Tab, xfwm4 draws an opaque rectangle bordering a candidate window, and it fills that rectangle with a semi- transparent blue color. When I use the nouveau driver, the filled rectangle is clipped. The problem does not reproduce with the proprietary nvidia driver. It seems as though a drawing command should be issued using a window- relative coordinate, but sometimes is instead issued using a screen- relative coordinate. I extracted relevant bits of xfwm4 into a small test program that reproduces the problem. The test program creates a transparent XWindow at (100,100) with size (210,210). It draws six rectangles centered inside the window of varying parameters. Two of them are drawn at the wrong place. xfwm4 should be off-the-hook, I think, unless it's doing something wrong (e.g. unspecified/undefined behavior). $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS Release:16.04 $ apt-cache policy xserver-xorg-video-nouveau xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: Installed: 1:1.0.12-1build2 Candidate: 1:1.0.12-1build2 Version table: *** 1:1.0.12-1build2 500 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status $ apt-cache policy xfwm4 xfwm4: Installed: 4.12.3-1ubuntu2 Candidate: 4.12.3-1ubuntu2 Version table: *** 4.12.3-1ubuntu2 500 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/universe amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status I created a video demonstrating the problem in xfwm4: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8dZN80tMA6M. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1509866] [NEW] Left Mouse Click NOT working in Linux
Public bug reported: I have noted this problem was first reported in '2009 ( Google search). The problem is definitely NOT a hardware problem, people with various hardware configurations encounter this bug. It does not just affect Ubuntu, it also affects Debian, Linux Mint, Puppy, along with some Redhat distros Fedora, and ArchLinux. I personally noticed the problem when I upgraded from ubuntu10.10 to 11.04. All versions prior to 11.04 worked great out of the box. When I could not find a fix for the bug in Ubuntu, I deleted Ubuntu, then installed Debian 6 (Squeez), which worked right out of the box. When I upgraded to Debian 6 (Wheezy), the bug resurfaced. I deleted Debian 6, and tried Puppy Linux with the SAME result, deleted Puppy, and tried LinuxMint Mate17.1 which had the SAME bug, I deleted LinuxMint, and burned a live disc of Debian 8 (Jessie) the SAME bug resurfaced while running from the DVD. It does not seem to be a matter of what desk top environment is being used ie.: Gnome 3, Unity, LXDE, Xfce, or Kde. It did not seem as prevalent in Gnome 2.30. Right now I am running Kubuntu 14.04 it has the SAME BUG, but only appears when I try to use Fire Fox on youtube with a full screen video. I have tried these installs on two different systems: Mobo: Asus M3A78-CM ( have tried legacy on Auto and Enabled) Video: ATI Readon HD 5000 series Mouse: I have logitech optical wired BJ58, Gearhead optical wired OM3400U , Microsoft Sculp model 1560 wireless, logitech optical wireless mouse M705 Mobo: Asus M2NBP-VM CSM ( have tried legacy on Auto and Enabled) Video: ATI Readon HD 4000 series. Mouse: same as listed above This BUG affect what seems like ALL .deb bases ** Affects: xserver-xorg-input-evdev (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-evdev in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1509866 Title: Left Mouse Click NOT working in Linux To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/1509866/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1455208] [NEW] firefox crashes on sketchup.com with nvidia-304 on 10de:03d0 [GeForce 6150SE nForce 430]
Public bug reported: Browsing to sketchup.com reliably crashes Firefox 37 and 38 in Vivid and Trusty when running nvidia-304 on a GeForce 6150SE. I'm guessing it's because of the WebGL canvas on the front page. Nouveau on the same GPU does not crash (however the canvas contains only garbage); neither does nvidia-304 on more recent hardware (e.g. GT 210). No backtrace right now because I couldn't figure how to stop Firefox's crash reporter from eating it. I'll try again in a bit. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 980519] Re: Random log off in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
This bug has starting affecting one of my production servers. I would classify it as "critical". I turned off and uninstalled the screensaver on this computer, but apparently that is not enough to prevent Ubuntu from going to sleep. It will go to sleep by itself even if there is NO SCREENSAVER application installed on the operating system! That is a CRITICAL BUG!!! So, in an effert to stop the computer from going to sleep, I installed XScreenSaver, and turned it to "never go to sleep, ever" settings. Now I have to start XScreenSaver at startup, to try to PREVENT this machine from going to sleep. But it doesn't work. Every few days, I'll wake up and be logged out of the machine, server is down, not live to the world. Downtime caused by this bug. If I then try to log back in, it IMMEDIATELY logs me back out! I have to cold restart the whole machine to get back in. This bug is so critical that I may have to migrate away from Ubuntu if there is no forthcoming solution. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/980519 Title: Random log off in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/980519/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 939950] Re: Dual head failing with Radeon [workaround]
Is this bug also relevant for a dual card setup? I have two HD6570 cards rather than just one, so my 2nd monitor appears as monitor 3 in the AMD control centre. When I open the AMD Catalyst Catalyst Control Center (Administrative), enable the 3rd monitor, reboot, and it's not saved the setting and the monitor is still disabled. This all works fine on 12.04: I did a clean install yesterday to verify. The open source drivers work, to a fashion. But they are so buggy and laggy that they're barely usable. I'd prefer to use OSS drivers, but not the ones we have presently., but that's a different issue... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/939950 Title: Dual head failing with Radeon [workaround] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer/+bug/939950/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I see this problem also. It worked in 12.04, but I can't remember if it worked in 12.10, but it definitely hasn't worked since. I have two HD6570 cards rather than just one. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1312437] [NEW] large cursor flickers or disappears
Public bug reported: When the cursor is set to a large image it flickers or disappears completely. With nouveau the bug does not happen. Reproduced with nvidia 195 in lucid, 304 in precise, and 331 in trusty running compiz, metacity, and gnome-shell. It seems to be less severe under metacity: the cursor still flickers but doesn't actually disappear as often. It also seems to be less severe in trusty than in precise, but still flickers badly and occasionally disappears. Upgrading to nvidia 331 in precise didn't change anything, so I think some other component is also related. Disabling HWCursor in xorg.conf doesn't change anything under metacity, but under gnome-shell and compiz it makes the cursor (any size, including the default) flicker and disappear all the time. ktuberling is affected by this bug. It uses Qt's QWidget::setCursor() to replace the cursor with an image of the item you clicked on. Smaller items work and larger ones flicker or disappear. With nouveau it works as expected, there is no flickering. Attached is a trivial Qt program that demonstrates the bug using QWidget::setCursor(). On my system (GT218 [GeForce 210]) the bug appears with cursors larger than 64x64 px. I don't know whether that number is hardware-dependent. Can I provide any other useful information? ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: lucid precise trusty ** Attachment added: "sc.cpp" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1312437/+attachment/4095841/+files/sc.cpp -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1312437 Title: large cursor flickers or disappears To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/1312437/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1235516] Re: service networking restart causes Xorg crash
I actually am having the exact same problem, right down to the lead-up. After resuming from suspend I found myself unable to connect to wireless networks, so I tried restarting networking with 'service networking restart'. lightdm and everything under it immediately went down hard. I was able to get to a VT, and when I tried to 'service lightdm start', the computer stopped responding to keyboard input, and shut down when I tapped the power button. Upon restarting, I tried to restart networking immediately after logging in, and the window manager ended up trapped in a restart loop. I then tried booting to the login screen, switching to a VT, stopping lightdm, restarting networking, and starting lightdm, but lightdm fails to start. Cursory examination of the logs provided by the original reporter indicate that our hardware is radically different. This leads me to be skeptical of the memory hardware diagnosis. It seems outlandishly improbable that two completely different computers would experience reproducible corruption of the same byte of kernel memory without any other discernable memory errors. This is 100% reproducible on my system. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1129679] Re: Server hangs preceded by "EQ overflowing."
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1041790 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1041790 I replaced my 13.04 install and with Debian wheezy, then unstable, but didn't have any video hangs. I then tried a clean install of 13.04 (as opposed to 12.10 then 13.04 as before) and have had a couple of hangs. The first was a "soft hang" where I could kill my desktop session by switching to a virtual console. Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1129679] Re: Server hangs preceded by "EQ overflowing."
Reuben: were you able to switch to another virtual console? When I was on raring I'd sometimes be able to switch and then kill X, other times not and the machine wouldn't be accessible on the network. Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1129679] Re: Server hangs preceded by "EQ overflowing."
The reason I haven't followed up recently is because I downgraded to 12.10. My raring crashes usually caused the whole machine to hang.
