[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1982113] [NEW] My screen is horizontally divided into two parts.

2022-07-19 Thread Monjoy Saha
Public bug reported:

I'm using Ubuntu 16.04 on my HP laptop. My screen is horizontally
divided into two parts. The upper part is fine but the lower part is
flickering. This is not a hardware issue because sometimes I don't see
any issues.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1184451] Re: Ubuntu 13.10 random screen freeze while Normal OS activites

2013-09-17 Thread Saha
Sometimes freezes arise when Firefox is running. It seems that something
like out of memory happens and (as 'top' shows) kswap is active
(although I disable swap completely). Pressing Alt+SysRq+F kills Firefox
and everything goes well.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1222791] Re: 1002:94c3 (EE) [mi] EQ overflowing. Additional events will be discarded until existing events are processed

2013-09-12 Thread Saha
Christopher, unfortunately this bug appears not very often and I cannot
reproduce it at will. Say after last reboot there are no problems (but I
turn off many services like update center, may be there is some kind of
connection with the problem).

What about video driver... - that was not a question, sorry for my
English :)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1222791] [NEW] (EE) [mi] EQ overflowing. Additional events will be discarded until existing events are processed

2013-09-09 Thread Saha
Public bug reported:

Random screen freezes (see also
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1184451).
Sometimes system is hanging and it looks like swapping is active (but swap is
disabled completely), no response to either mouse/keyboard. Switching to
terminals (Ctrl+Alt+F1-F6) and Alt+SysRq is still working. In Xorh.0.log there
are next messages:

[258008.925] [mi] EQ overflowing. Additional events will be discarded until
existing events are processed.
[258009.690] [mi] These backtraces from mieqEnqueue may point to a culprit
higher up the stack.
[258009.690] [mi] mieq is *NOT* the cause. It is a victim.
[258009.690] [mi] Increasing EQ size to 512 to prevent dropped events.
[258009.691] [mi] EQ processing has resumed after 67 dropped events.
[258009.691] [mi] This may be caused my a misbehaving driver monopolizing the
server's resources.

I use radeon driver.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1184451] Re: Ubuntu 13.10 random screen freeze while Normal OS activites

2013-09-05 Thread Saha
Apropos, please write which graphics driver do you use.
I use radeon.

Below I attach Xorg.0.log when xorg is almost frozen and I need to
restart it from terminal.

Short peace of it:

[1048945.485] [mi] These backtraces from mieqEnqueue may point to a culprit
higher up the stack.
[1048945.485] [mi] mieq is *NOT* the cause. It is a victim.
[1048945.827] [mi] EQ processing has resumed after 43 dropped events.
[1048945.827] [mi] This may be caused my a misbehaving driver monopolizing the
server's resources.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1184451] Re: Ubuntu 13.10 random screen freeze while Normal OS activites

2013-08-09 Thread Saha
The problem with screen freezing seems to be solved when I set
/proc/sys/vm/swappiness to 0 (probably 10 also will be fine).
And I should note than in my case of screen freezing mouse cursor also stops
moving completely. Such freeing lasts from 1 second to ~10 seconds.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1184451] Re: Ubuntu 13.10 random screen freeze while Normal OS activites

2013-06-26 Thread Saha
I confirm the problem. XUbuntu 13.04, kernel 3.8.0-25-generic.
I think this is a problem with X-server.

** Package changed: ubuntu = xorg-server (Ubuntu)

 Hi cornucopic,

Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn` and `dmesg`, and attach your
/var/log/Xorg.0.log (and maybe Xorg.0.log.old) file from after reproducing
this issue. If you're using a custom /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that
 as well.

I don;t face the problem anymore after a recent update of the bits.
