Thanks Sandro - just installed it, seems to be working. It seems like maybe they aren't going to bother with it. If anyone else is running Ubuntu 12.10 and having trouble, I have taken the liberty to create two scripts from Sandro's instructions. This is happening for me as well. I'm using a MS Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 on Ubuntu 12.04 AMD64. Really annoying.
