[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1604819] Re: intel driver (intel_drv) not loaded
I chatted with tjaalton in irc. He suggested trying mainline kernel. I pulled http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.7-rc6-yakkety/ now running 4.7.0-040700rc6-generic with $ dpkg-query --show xserver-common xserver-xorg-core xserver-common 2:1.18.4-1ubuntu1 xserver-xorg-core 2:1.18.4-1ubuntu1 and the problem does not appear to be present. I can't run the mainline kernels due to need of zfs and other ubuntu sauce, but it does seem fixed there. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1604819 Title: screen goes completely black during usage then comes back To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1604819/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1604819] Re: intel driver (intel_drv) not loaded
** Description changed: Hi, just upgraded and rebooted (been quite a while since I rebooted so lots of things probably changed in the mix). The system initially logged in and my screen layout was lost (instead ie, the monitor on the left was on the right). I changed that back, logged out and back in. Now, occasionally and seemingly randomly the larger display goes black for 1-2 seconds during usage. It often occurs when switching desktops via hotkeys, but sometimes at other random points. + After playing a bit, I'm pretty sure the reason is that I'm getting the + vesa driver instead of the intel one. + ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.10 Package: xorg 1:7.7+13ubuntu3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.4.0-31.50-generic 4.4.13 Uname: Linux 4.4.0-31-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: zfs zunicode zcommon znvpair zavl .tmp.unity_support_test.0: - + ApportVersion: 2.20.2-0ubuntu1 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: compiz CompositorUnredirectDriverBlacklist: '(nouveau|Intel).*Mesa 8.0' CompositorUnredirectFSW: true CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Wed Jul 20 09:26:52 2016 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: yakkety DistroVariant: ubuntu EcryptfsInUse: Yes ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes GraphicsCard: - Intel Corporation HD Graphics 6000 [8086:1626] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) -Subsystem: Intel Corporation HD Graphics 6000 [8086:2057] + Intel Corporation HD Graphics 6000 [8086:1626] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) + Subsystem: Intel Corporation HD Graphics 6000 [8086:2057] InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-07-23 (363 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 15.10 "Wily Werewolf" - Alpha amd64 (20150722.1) ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-4.4.0-31-generic.efi.signed root=UUID=f897b32a-eacf-4191-9717-844918947069 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 SourcePackage: xorg Symptom: display UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.13.0+16.10.20160714.2-0ubuntu1 version.ia32-libs: ia32-libs N/A version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.68-1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 11.2.1-1ubuntu1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental N/A version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 11.2.1-1ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-core: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.18.4-1ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.10.2-1ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:7.7.0-1 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.99.917+git20160706-1ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:1.0.12-2 xserver.bootTime: Wed Jul 20 09:18:57 2016 xserver.configfile: default xserver.errors: - modeset(0): failed to set mode: Invalid argument - modeset(0): failed to set mode: Invalid argument + modeset(0): failed to set mode: Invalid argument + modeset(0): failed to set mode: Invalid argument xserver.logfile: /var/log/Xorg.0.log xserver.version: 2:1.18.4-1ubuntu1 xserver.video_driver: modeset -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1604819 Title: intel driver (intel_drv) not loaded To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1604819/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1355196] Re: compiz fails with intel_do_flush_locked failed: Invalid argument
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected compiz-0.9 regression reproducible ubuntu ** Description changed: Recent upgrade and reboot/re-login left me with a generally unusable compiz/unity. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1273246] [NEW] gpu crash dump in i915
Public bug reported: I'm seeing in dmesg logs: [15869.816016] [drm] stuck on render ring [15869.816022] [drm] GPU crash dump saved to /sys/class/drm/card0/error [15869.816023] [drm] GPU hangs can indicate a bug anywhere in the entire gfx stack, including userspace. [15869.816027] [drm] The gpu crash dump is required to analyze gpu hangs, so please always attach it. This started sometime in the last couple weeks on trusty. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1097315] Re: Xorg hangs in drm_helper_connector_dpms
Just some information. Yesterday I saw that xserver-xorg-video-intel at 2:2.21.3-0ubuntu1 was available, so I got it, and rebooted. I figured I'd try with latest kernel and X. This morning in about 2 hours of general use, while scrolling (in ccsm), I hit this bug again while running kernel: linux-image-3.8.0-7-generic: /boot/vmlinuz-3.8.0-7-generic Attached is dmesg. ** Attachment added: "dmesg of hang on 3.8.0-7-generic" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1097315/+attachment/3549743/+files/dmesg.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1097315 Title: Xorg hangs in drm_helper_connector_dpms To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1097315/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1124576] Re: Xorg crashed after feeding nbox=0 to trapezoid emit_boxes()
@Chris, For reproduce, I'm sorry that I can't really help much. It just happens in general use. Often times its when I'm using firefox and scrolling. My browser window is always on the second display (non-laptop display) and scrolling seems to likely trigger it. Sorry for being very vague. I can definitely try a ppa build if you or timo could get me one. I'm currently running a backlevel version of xserver-xorg-video-intel 2.21.0-0ubuntu1 as 2.21.2-0ubuntu1 was unusable. (comment 42 on bug 1124576), but I'm willing to try a build. This is my primary system, so poking around and trying to recreate bugs or test new X (rather than using something stable-ish) means completely disrupting my other work. I'm clearly interested in it all "just working" for 13.04, so I'm interested in helping, I'm just saying it is invasive. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1124576 Title: Xorg crashed after feeding nbox=0 to trapezoid emit_boxes() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1124576/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1097315] Re: Xorg freeze
If I boot into the quantal kernel, I do not see this issue. So thats what I'm doing as a work around for now. Each time I forget, and reboot into raring, I hang usually within 15 minutes of usage.
