[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 517417] Re: [Q35] Rebooting after relatively long uptime, Xorg gives an error of No Valid Modes

2010-02-23 Thread Sensiva
I installed the kernel Andreas mentioned 2.6.32-14.19 , and after 4 days
of uptime I rebooted, everything worked just fine.

I hope this means that this bug is fixed, and get it fixed in Karmic too

Feel free to ask for any info or tests

Thanks
Sensiva

installing headers gives the error

Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: linux-headers-2.6.32-14

I guess common headers are needed linux-

2010-02-17 Thread Sensiva
I tried the kernel Andreas suggested to me , and rebooted the pc after 6
days of uptime, it worked fine.

- Can I continue using that kernel? or I should revert back to Karmic kernel?
- Is it planned to be fixed in Karmic or Jaunty too?

Thanks for your help

I don't think upgrading to Lucid would be suitable for me now. Do you
mean by Alternatively you could try with a newer kernel from:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/; - is installing a newer
kernel in Karmic from Kernel Mainline?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 517417] [NEW] Rebooting after relatively long uptime, Xorg gives an error of No Valid Modes

2010-02-04 Thread Sensiva
Public bug reported:

It is happening again and again, after leaving my workstation up for
long time (3 days or more) and rebooting... gdm starts in low graphics
mode after showing an error of No Valid Modes. I have to shutdown and
disconnect the power plugs for about 15 minutes, then power up again, to
find everything is working fine.

This never happens with Debian, Fedora or Windows, only Karmic (I remember it
happened many times during the days of Hardy)
My PC is Dell Optiplex 755 with Intel Q35 VGA , and HP monitor model hp p 1230.
I am using Karmic amd64.
