[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1528295] [NEW] Please add RWIN->R-Control option
Public bug reported: Many compact keyboards lack either an RWIN- or an RCTL key. Personally, I use RCTL a lot more than RWIN, although I would not like to go without a win/log key altogether. The file /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/altwin has lots of options to mess with modifier keys, but not the option to change RWIN into R-Control but leave Lwin alone. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1004983] Re: X.org segfaults when exiting window manager
As a temporary workaround, you can shut down your computer by closing your applications, going to a virtual text console (e.g. Ctrl-Alt-F2) and there issue a 'sudo halt' command. By the way: I have the problem on both my desktop and my laptop. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1004983 Title: X.org segfaults when exiting window manager To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1004983/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1004983] Re: X.org segfaults when exiting window manager
So you need to go to a TTY _before_ the segfault. I have temporarily removed the exit command from my fvwm menu to force myself to end X.org the other way. In the virtual console I issue a 'killall xinit' command and then I can restart X. You may have to replace xinit with whatever started X.
