[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 597753] Re: Entire UI(Gnome+apps) behaves like shift button is continually pressed

2010-07-06 Thread Spang
I'm not sure if it is the only case when it occurs, but most of the times it
seems to be triggered while using auto completion (ctrl+space) in Eclipse.
Currently I'm using Eclipse 3.5.1 downloaded independently (not from Ubuntu
repository).
I remember that (at leat in Ubuntu 9.10) there was a gtk/swt bug that forced me
to use following startup script.

export GDK_NATIVE_WINDOWS=1
~/localapps/eclipse/eclipse

I'll disable that, and see if it makes any difference.

Thing I forgot to mention.
I was unable to undo the effect while Eclipse had focus.
Giving focus to gedit helped out.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 597753] Re: Entire UI(Gnome+apps) behaves like shift button is continually pressed

2010-07-16 Thread Spang
Ok,

The issue still occurs with the GDK fix disabled. I must note however
that the same fix is in place in order for flash to work decently
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/flashplugin-
nonfree/+bug/410407 and most of the time some flash stuff is running in
the back due to an open browser.

Still most cases of occurrence is in eclipse and while using left hand
shortkeys (like ctrl+space).

I'm still uncertain about the undo effect. Afaik, I need to leave
eclipse focus (like going to gedit) and than pressing some combo of
ctrl, shift and capslock seems to undo it eventually (maybe tab is
involved). Not necessarily from the first try.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 428884] Re: gnome-screensaver-command --poke no longer inhibits screensaver

2010-04-19 Thread Spang
Been on Lucid since beta 1. Upgraded to the latest package versions just
yesterday. For the first time since the migration to KDE4 apps I kept
the Kaffeine upgrade (0.8.7 to 1.0). Since this is marked duplicate of
bug 531306 I should note here that when using Kaffeine screen saver
inhibition, or at least stand-by inhibition, is not working when
watching tv from dvb.

btw, this problem occurred in the KDE3 version package as well, was then
caused by a missing build dependency (I think) and was solved with a ppa
package.

Same problem. NVidia+Remote+Compiz still broken.

Odd enough, the update from a locked screen to desktop does work and
mouse pointer position updates as well.

Same here. Fix working. About the same config (64 bit lucid, and 8500
card).

So I guess setting System > Preferences > Appearance to none and adding
"compiz --use-root-window --replace" to System > Preferences > Startup
Applications. Should serve as a workable workaround.

@Doug

Good point.

@misterhaan & co

Same issue. When I tested before, I was testing a local connection (localhost).
When trying to actually use it over a dsl connection, things went terribly
wrong. As in, nearly unresponsive and in fact completely unusable.
