[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1873403] Re: [nvidia] Screen turns off when trying to set some fractional scaling values
I've tried this from pop!_os 20.04, nVidia 2060 super GTX, 4k monitor. Starting off in 100% scaling, I select 125% scaling. Before enabling proposed, this resulted in the screen switching off. Since enabling proposed and installing the updated packages, this now doesn't switch the screen off, but the behaviour is still not correct. I believe I'm now experiencing https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/+bug/1875285 and https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/+bug/1825593 (the latter of which is marked as fixed). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1873403 Title: [nvidia] Screen turns off when trying to set some fractional scaling values To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/+bug/1873403/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 997075] Re: XOrg uses 100% CPU after upgrade to 12.04 and freezes computer
I have the same issue. I think it has to do with the Nvidia 8 series, because I have a Nvidia 8800 GTX. I tried the proprietary driver packages, didnt help. I then tried to manually install the latest driver via Nvidia's website. Again, didnt help. I have only tested it using XFCE, but I suspect the same under Unity. I really am only affected when doing anything requiring any special effects such as from Cairo-dock and switching workspaces. I also have compositioning enabled to allow a proper transparency on my conky. ** Package changed: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau (Ubuntu) = nvidia- graphics-drivers (Ubuntu) ** Package changed: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu) = xorg (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/997075 Title: XOrg uses 100% CPU after upgrade to 12.04 and freezes computer To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/997075/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1003333] [NEW] Ubuntu snowcrashes frequently but with no obvious cause
Public bug reported: For the last two days (since Monday 21st May 2012) my machine (a Lenovo U300s) has been snowcrashing six or seven times a day. By this I mean that the screen (or screens) are filled with coloured moving static. When the machine is snowcrashed, it does not respond to ssh, and sounds that were playing are stopped; as far as I can tell, the machine is genuinely crashed and *not* still working but with broken video. Recovering from the snowcrash requires powercycling the machine. I am running a custom kernel provided by cking to fix a suspend issue, but the issue also happens under the regular Ubuntu kernel. I have seen this crash happen after hours of usage, or within minutes of logging on. I have also seen it happen at the lightdm login screen before I am even logged on. It happens both when the laptop is using solely its own screen and also when the laptop is plugged into a monitor via HDMI. kern.log shows nothing of interest. At RAOF's suggestion I tried echo 0xe/sys/module/drm/parameters/debug but there was still no interesting information in kern.log after a crash and powercycle. Xorg.0.log.old also contains nothing relevant. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 884191] [NEW] Disable touchpad while typing doesn't disable Synaptics touchpad on Lenovo ThinkPad T410i on Ubunutu 11.x
Public bug reported: In the Mouse and Touchpad application, Disable touchpad while typing is ticked - however, this seems to have no effect. Catching the trackpad whilst typing sends the cursor ricocheting across the screen. Expected behaviour: Disable touchpad while typing does indeed disable the touchpad within {x} seconds of a key-press occurring - or, if this functionality isn't available with this hardware, the option should be greyed-out/disabled. Actual behaviour: The Disable touchpad while typing check-box seems to have no effect on the system - there is no noticeable change of behaviour no matter what the state of the control. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 768184] [NEW] [i965gm] GPU lockup (ESR: 0x00000001 IPEHR: 0x01800020)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel Crash which required reboot. The crash itself is described in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/768176 and this is after I persuaded apport-gpu-error-intel.py to run. My screen went entirely black (both laptop screen and second monitor). Switching to a VC did not show anything on screen. At first I could still hear sounds from running applications, but eventually (after ~10 seconds) they stopped. I had to powercycle the machine to get control back. The system problem detected apport dialog offered to let me file a bug, but then I got another crash dialog saying apport-gpu-error- intel.py closed unexpectedly. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 758633] Re: Pointing devices disabled at start of session
It happens every time I log in. The Pointing devices application (gpointing-device-settings 1.5.1-4) is something I installed from the software centre as it enables management of multiple devices - the default 'Mouse' application only manages the default. This happens on every log in, regardless of bluetooth status. When first connected, the magic trackpad is also disabled until I do the same dance. The mouse does work in the gdm log in screen but stops working when my desktop session starts. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/758633 Title: Pointing devices disabled at start of session ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 709664] [NEW] Using Bluetooth mouse causes display to unrecoverably die
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg If I move my Bluetooth mouse, my laptop's screen and external screen hang unrecoverably, since the latest Natty updates. (This worked previously in natty.) The laptop trackpad works fine, and there is no problem; as soon as I move my Bluetooth mouse, the laptop screen and external monitor go black. The monitor's power button flashes, which normally means that it's receiving no input at all (rather than receiving the input of a black screen); ctrl-alt-F1 does not (visibly) switch to a VC. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 695783] [NEW] nividia and kernel update trashes system, video and sound
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg I am running Ubuntu 10.10, I recently installed some system upgrades, including a kernel upgrade and an nvidia driver update. A reboot was required, after reboot I could not boot up, all I got was a black screen. Using the Ubuntu 10.10 live install CD I was able to get a basic system running. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 595555] Re: screensaver can't be interrupted once fade begins
In case anyone is still looking for an answer, I've found a solution: Since the screensaver is now handled by gnome, I checked the Configuration Editor. You'll find the screensaver settings in there under apps - gnome-screensaver. I noticed that the idle-delay key was NOT set to the value I put in the gui settings (System-Preferences-Screensaver) which was 1 minute. It had 10 instead. Once I set it to 1 minute the screensaver actually started at 1 minute instead of just fading and coming back to the desktop. Hope this helps. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/59 Title: screensaver can't be interrupted once fade begins ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I have been running both Ubuntu 9.10 and 10.04 using mainline kernel 2.6.34 since June without a single freeze, on different hardware affected by the freeze. I have tested each newly released Ubuntu kernel and every one so far results in a hard freeze (with fsck of disk remounted readonly message on subsequent boot). Hi, I installed the xorg-edgers ppa and the 2.6.35-rc3 kernel from the link you provided. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 585765] Re: Ubuntu 10.04 random freezes
Igor Wojnicki wrote Take a lookat StuartN's post: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=9468596postcount=487 This might be a hint what causes the freezes. Switching the root filesystem to writeback mode (instead of the default ordered mode) will work with EXT3 or EXT4. It is not a solution, but it is possibly a method of gathering further data. In my case, I have a system that is functioning (almost) perfectly with kernel 2.6.34 and freezing with kernel 2.6.32-22. The freeze now affects a single process, all the inodes attached to that process and subsequently all processes depending on those inodes - yes, the system does fully freeze after some time, but I have no difficulty accessing logs after recognizing that a process has frozen. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 481349] Re: [i915g] Karmic: intel i915 crash (locked up - had to power off)
A workaround that works for me is to do a SysReq R,E That takes me to the console, a couple of Alt-right keypresses will get me to a console login. I then log in and run sudo service gdm start. Once I'm logged back into my desktop, I can run sudo NetworkManager. This at least removes the need for a full reboot. -- [i915g] Karmic: intel i915 crash (locked up - had to power off) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/481349 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
