[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1349282] Re: The gpu-manager should allow RandR offloading without bbswitch

2014-09-12 Thread Taihsiang Ho
An I+N machine, Lenovo ThinkPad T440p (CID 201309-14169),
could not reproduce this issue.

However,
I tested this fix by the following steps:

1. install Ubuntu 14.04.1 on Lenovo ThinkPad T440p (CID 201309-14169)
2. sudo apt-get install ubuntu-drivers-common ( to be the latest version
1:0.2.91.6)
3. sudo reboot
4. sudo apt-get install nvidia-331-updates (version: 331.38-0ubuntu7.1)
5. sudo reboot
6. sudo dkms remove bbswitch/0.7 --all
7. reboot
8. /var/log/gpu-manager.log now will tell you 'Is nvidia enabled? no'
9. enabled the proposed pocket via software center
10. sudo apt-get install ubuntu-drivers-common ( to upgrade
ubuntu-drivers-common)
11. reboot
12. /var/log/gpu-manager.log now will tell you 'Is nvidia enabled? yes'

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1327990] [NEW] [Dell Inspiron 5447] failed to suspend-resume when using AMD Radeon R7 M260 graphic card [1002:6900]

2014-06-09 Thread Taihsiang Ho
Public bug reported:

Dell Inspiron 5447 (CID 201401-14529) on 14.04

Steps to reproduce this bug:
1. install proprietary driver by clicking 'Ubuntu Software Center'--Software
sources-- the tab 'Additional Drivers'
2. select the suggested proprietary drivers fglrx or fglrx-updates
3. reboot the system
4. suspend the system by 'sudo rtcwake -s 60 -m mem' or the indicator in the
top right of the desktop
5. press power to resume the system if you suspended the system by the indicator

Expected result:
the system will resume back to work.

Actul result:
When resuming from suspend, the system will resume back to the stage which
shows you the desktop screen, and then freeze.
The resume screen looks fine but the system is freezed.

Both of fglrx and fglrx-updates have the same issue.
