[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1089102] Re: 1002:6760 ATI Low graphics mode, with 8086:0126 Intel system via fglrx
Ok, low graphics came up, but when i chose reconfigure it didnt change anything this time, back to low graphics warning again, cant fall back using switcheroo either, have removed xserver//intel and fglrx now running on Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe (LLVM 3.1, 256 bits) for some reason, and computer is a million degrees... trying some stuff again, maybe i disabled too many ppa's and thats why im getting the cant be downloaded error. Will get back to you... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1089102 Title: 1002:6760 ATI Low graphics mode, with 8086:0126 Intel system via fglrx To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1089102/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1089102] Re: 1002:6760 ATI Low graphics mode, with 8086:0126 Intel system via fglrx
tried uninstalling and reinstalling some things, are you sure your version of xserver//intel works with my intel 3000 card? I dont know why i cant use switcheroo anymore, i tried your 7 steps again a couple of times, but i cant get past the low graphics warning, and now i cant get back to the intel sandybridge drivers, just this gallium one. It looks like im going to have to reinstall my system, again. I dont know why- after at least 3 months of this problem, and seemingly hundreds of users affected, multiple bug reports, it hasn't been sorted yet, tonnes of people have been helped by your work around, i try to be proactive and sell ubuntu to my friends, but they'd all laugh now, because i cant get a working system, for 3 months. Grr, anyway, rant over, it'll take me a couple of hours to back up my data, then i'll reinstall, unless you have a better idea. At least a re-install will make troubleshooting more simple. Hey, sorry. Backing up took less time than I thought. So I'm half way through reinstall. Also sort for ranting. Just frustratesd. Already been through 3 days of this for my sta driver. Gag. When I reinstall I'll try additional drivers for fglrx. When that doesn't work I'll try your ppa. After that I'll post again on here. Hmm, just seems a bit wasteful, as there are at least two other bugs that describe this problem, and this one is already open, is the reason behind this that reporting a bug includes reports from my laptop, which will change when the ppa is removed? Or i guess because everyones set up is a little different eh? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1088722] [NEW] Low graphics mode in Hybrid ATI/Intel GPU systems after fglrx upgrade/
Public bug reported: A duplicate of 1068404 mixed with some of 069199 . Im using quantal. Not fixed by nick andrikos's ppa. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/ATI#WORKAROUND After installing ATI proprietary drivers for my Radeon video card, Unity doesn't start anymore. LightDM shows up, and I'm able to log in, but Unity doesn't load. Obs: The same occurs when installing fglrx package (if I choose it, instead of fglrx-updates). Removing the proprietary driver fixes the issue. This is the output of lspci -v | grep vga 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Caicos [Radeon HD 6400M/7400M Series] with the radeon driver the fan was really loud, the laptop was overheating and the battery was draining fast. Then I tried fglrx but unity wouldn't load(only the wallpaper and the mouse) so what I did for now is: Remove fglrx and use opensource radeon Use switcheroo (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HybridGraphics) to disable the discrete card(amd). You can add echo IGD /sys/kernel/debug/vgaswitcheroo/switch echo OFF /sys/kernel/debug/vgaswitcheroo/switch right before exit 0. This lets the system work , with norma fan, heat and battery. When i run aticonfig --initial -f i get the following: sudo aticonfig --initial -f Uninitialised file found, configuring. PowerXpress info: Diagnostic output from /usr/lib64/fglrx/switchlibglx: update-alternatives: warning: forcing reinstallation of alternative /usr/lib/fglrx/ld.so.conf because link group x86_64-linux-gnu_gl_conf is broken update-alternatives: warning: not replacing /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/xorg/extra-modules with a link Using /etc/X11/xorg.conf Saving back-up to /etc/X11/xorg.conf.original-1 When i reboot the low graaphics thing comes up, i choose reconfigure, reboot again, then no unity /Desktop$ compiz --replace compiz (core) - Info: Loading plugin: core compiz (core) - Info: Starting plugin: core compiz (core) - Info: Loading plugin: ccp compiz (core) - Info: Starting plugin: ccp compizconfig - Info: Backend : gsettings compizconfig - Info: Integration : true compizconfig - Info: Profile : unity compiz (core) - Info: Loading plugin: composite compiz (core) - Info: Starting plugin: composite compiz (core) - Info: Loading plugin: opengl X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation) Major opcode of failed request: 153 (GLX) Minor opcode of failed request: 19 (X_GLXQueryServerString) Serial number of failed request: 22 Current serial number in output stream: 22 compiz (core) - Info: Unity is not supported by your hardware. I have an hp dm4, with radeon hd 7470, and intel 3000, I get the same symptoms, overheating, fan always on, and am unable to install amd drivers, I get the same low graphics 'mode/ no unity problem'.
