[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 605467] [NEW] compiz crashes when a java overlay is larger than display

2010-07-14 Thread Visitor.Q
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

I was using Matlab, and during a debug session the mouse hovered over an
array with many numbers; the popup that shows, containing the (first
part of the) numbers in that array crashes the 3D capabilities of my
desktop, so compiz was suddenly gone. See popup, I think it might have
to do with that particular popup running off the display (since popups
that are smaller do not pose a problem).

** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 298532] Re: [i965] reflection plugin freezes systems with Intel GM965

2010-03-18 Thread Visitor.Q
I'm not really sure how to install those, Bryce. I added the PPA, but
there seems to be only a "lucid" part of the PPA, and I couldnt find the
packages from that specific PPA in Synaptics.

However, I downloaded the daily ISO of 10.04 (which has a kernel >=
2.6.32-14.20), and booted it in a Live environment. I then set up the
universe repo's, installed compizconfig-settings-manager and selected
the reflection plugin; the system grumbles a bit (no complete freeze
like the original bug report, but the mouse moves in a jagged fashion
and window decorations are distorted), but after like 20 seconds the
X-server gives up and I am placed back at the login screen.

Actually, I ran into this bug, however not via the reflection plugin,
but rather using the data visualization software ParaView. It crashes my
current system (updated Karmic installation) completely, like the
original bug report states, and I can only poweroff the machine. On the
Live-Lucid environment (as descibed before), it does not crash but shows
the similar jagged mouse-movements followed by an x-server reset -- this
similar behavior makes me think it is the same bug.

I can reproduce this bug in ParaView only when using transparent
objects. ParaView uses OpenGL for visualization. It only occurs on Intel
chipsets, since I can do transparency things with ParaView on e.g.
NVidia without problems.

How to reproduce with ParaView: Import a 3D data object, use the 'slice'
tool to cut a slice out of the 3D object. If you try to move the slice
with the mouse, it will turn half transparent which is the point the
system locks up (i.e. on Karmic). That also happens when you set the
opacity below 1.00.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 363174] Re: [i965] Compiz blur plugin causes screen garbage (UXA bug)

2009-11-03 Thread Visitor.Q
I have the same issue as shown in the initial screenshot (that of May 2009) --
with the red bars everywhere, running Karmic with everything updated, standard
intel drivers: Version: 2:2.9.0-1ubuntu2 on a VGA compatible controller: Intel
Corporation Mobile GM965 aka X3100.
Although I must say that blur initially works fine (setting the blur filter to
Gaussian, with compiz-default Gaussian radius to 3), but fooling around with
the radius setting eventually produces these errors (including a complete
system lockup).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 384047] Re: [i965] on resume from suspend, X restarts (UXA bug)

2009-07-21 Thread Visitor.Q
I have the same problem with a 32bit Jaunty installation (upgraded from
intrepid), with the latest stable 2.7.1 intel drivers and uxa from x-swat. I
also tried the 2.6.30 kernel with the 2.7.1 drivers/uxa, same problem there.
Not always, more like in 80% of the cases.
Just tried the 32bit latest alpha (live CD) and tested the procedure of Geir
described above. However the resume worked fine (using the intel drivers from
the x-swat again, but now in a live CD environment). Do I need to install
Karmic alpha to test more thoroughly?
I also suspended with the mem > /sys/power/state command, but usually when
things do not work, I suspend with the gnome menu. I'll try that later.
