[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1857654] [NEW] xserver-xorg-input-synaptics package causes Elan touchpad jumpiness

2019-12-26 Thread Whit Blauvelt
Public bug reported:

On a ASUS Zenbook, UX331FA, with Ubuntu 19.10 (actually Xubutu), the pad
was wildly jumpy, even responding when not directly touched, until I
uninstalled this package. This is a known problem. The pad works well
after the package is removed. See for instance
https://askubuntu.com/questions/903379/how-do-i-disable-tap-to-click-on-
the-touchpad-in-ubuntu-gnome-17-04/904677 -- which despite its title has
as the top-rated suggestion this.

I don't know what the theory of operation of this package is, or why it
should be inserting itself into operation when it's not a Synaptics
touchpad. The bug is, when it's an Elan pad, it should not do so.

** Affects: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1443434] Re: VLC's image is scrambled when using XVideo

2015-04-30 Thread Whit A
I am having the same problem on a Lenovo T450s. There are a few things
also worth noting

 - After resuming from a suspend, the video plays just a black screen.
 - While resuming from a suspend the password prompt never loads properly. (a
blank window but I know to enter password)
 - When rebooting, the ubuntu logo is scrambled around the screen until it
shuts off.

Perhaps these are all related?
