[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1328528] Re: No 3D acceleration with radeon driver and Radeon HD 6410D

2014-06-20 Thread abeverley
Okay, so I've removed the proprietary driver and then rebooted with the
normal driver with nomodeset removed. However, it won't boot to the
login screen and crashes after the initial Ubuntu splash screen. I'm
left with a splodge of purple at the bottom of the screen. I can't
switch to a terminal using Ctrl-Alt-F1 and numlock doesn't work, so it
looks like it's properly crashed.

Is there anything I can do to help debug this?

Thanks for the help,

Andy

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1328528] [NEW] No 3D acceleration with radeon driver and Radeon HD 6410D

2014-06-10 Thread abeverley
Public bug reported:

Despite what appears to be a working radeon driver, I am unable to get
3D acceleration working (or in fact any specific driver support - unable
to change resolution properly either).

If I install the proprietary driver then everything works correctly,
except I then experience memory leaks. I believe I have removed all
traces of the fglrx driver.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1328528] Re: No 3D acceleration with radeon driver and Radeon HD 6410D

2014-06-10 Thread abeverley
I should add that when I first installed Ubuntu on the same computer, I
had to specify the option nomodeset, otherwise I just got a white
screen. After installation the driver did not work, which is why I tried
the proprietary driver.
