[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 2033418] Re: Ubuntu desktop does not appear on DGX Station A100 discrete GPU by default

2023-09-04 Thread Joao Andre Simioni
Hi Daniel,

I tried removing Removing xorg-nvidia.conf and the following setups:

- nomodeset:
  hdmi: no display
bmc: just a fsck message (blinked sometimes) - no splash / no X
  sosreport:
sosreport-u-DGX-Station-A100-920-23487-2531-000-nomodeset-2023-09-04-fvncavf.tar.xz

- nomodeset + blacklist ast
  hdmi: no display
bmc: just a fsck message (blinked sometimes) - no splash / no X
  sosreport:
sosreport-u-DGX-Station-A100-920-23487-2531-000-nomodeset-blacklist-ast-2023-09-04-sasnfpi.tar.xz

- blacklist ast
  hdmi: no display
bmc: just a fsck message (blinked sometimes) - no splash / no X
  sosreport:
sosreport-u-DGX-Station-A100-920-23487-2531-000-blacklist-ast-2023-09-04-hcfupsp.tar.xz

The sos reports are in a shared Google Drive:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1FVHt2IMGsOyAsQ5U-z0kiqEFMD8NaWzh

Without the ast blacklist or the nomodeset, the behavior goes back to:

- no /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ file: Splash and X on BMC Display
- /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/xorg-nvidia.conf: no splash, X on HDMI

@vanvugt,

I have tried:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="vga=normal nofb nomodeset"

But the output is still only seen in the BMC Display.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1533675] Re: Screen issue with Java applications

2016-04-29 Thread Andre T
Hello

Thanks for the tip. I changed the driver config to what you have suggested and
it seems to be working fine.
Graphics performance seems to be at least as fast as SNA (default setting) and
java graphics from remote SSH load up correctly.
I will keep these settings and I will test thoroughly.
I will update soon.

Thanks

:)

@Matt @Paul: Your bug is Bug #10 (Ivy Bride). Please follow the
instructions there to install the proposed kernel (comment #63). If you
do not have the confidence to work with the proposed repository, just
wait 2 weeks or so. Linux 3.2.0-27 will fix your issue.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 745608] Re: [915GM] font corruption on Intel GMA900

2011-11-23 Thread Andre
Font corruption does only affect some fonts - not all. I've never
experienced the corruption when using Chromium, when observing the same
webpage scrambled in Firefox.

I've never experienced this font corruption on pre-Natty releases (I
skipped Maverick). The first time I suffered from corrupted fonts was on
Natty using Unity 3D.

I'm wondering if this corruption can be related to the Ubuntu font? Or
an interplay of Ubuntu font and Unity 3D?

I'm using Oneiric with all updates installed as of today on IBM Thinkpad X41
with the following output of 'lspci':

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 566433] Re: psb driver not available on Lucid. Uses -vesa at max 1024x768 resolution

2011-10-09 Thread Sebastien Andre
Following duplicate https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/814583

The EMGD driver from http://ppa.launchpad.net/gma500/emgd/ubuntu solved
the problem for me (Dell mini 1010 with Poulsbo on Natty).

The resolution is now 1366x768 and it's even possible to play full
screen videos with totem.

Only the adobe flash plugin is still slow.

Don't know if it also works on Acer Aspire One.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 588661] Re: Black screen on boot (EDID checksum is invalid)

2010-12-17 Thread Andre LeBlanc
I have a similar issue with the nouveau drivers. I have an XPS M1710 and
the built-in display is detected properly, but the secondary monitor is
not. (The Nvidia binary driver detects it properly). dmesg output is
similar, but the invalid edid is even more suspicious looking:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 687466] [NEW] dock icons disappearing on reopen (all programs)

2010-12-08 Thread Andre Inglis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Here are the exact steps I take to cause the problem:

1. Open any program. I'll use the Calculator program for this example.
2. Right click the Calculator icon on the dock and select Pin To Launcher
3. Right click the Calculator icon on the dock and select Quit. (The
Calculator program quits and the Calculator icon is still pinned to the dock as
expected)
4. Right click the Calculator icon on the dock and select Pin To Launcher
(The Calculator icon on the dock disappears as expected)
5. Open the Calculator program.

The icon will not appear in the dock as expected. The Calculator program
will however open as expected.

This happens with all of the programs I've tested.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 687494] [NEW] application window opens behind other windows

2010-12-08 Thread Andre Inglis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Here are the exact steps I take for the bug to appear:

1. Open Firefox (or any other program that takes up about 3/4 of the screen)
2. Click on the Firefox window (you need to do this for the bug to happen)
3. Click the Ubuntu icon in the upper left hand side of the screen to open the
Applications Window

The Applications window appears behind the Firefox window. I expect the
Applications window to appear on top of it.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 687494] Re: application window opens behind other windows

2010-12-08 Thread Andre Inglis
I tried this on two different laptops (Samsung and HP) on the livecd and
both have the same bug. I did a full install on my Samsung and the bug
was still there, but I did not get a chance to try the classic desktop.
After a reset the laptop booted into a purple screen and froze.
Subsequent resets did not alleviate the problem.

Also, I was not able to activate the effects in the 'Change Background'
menu. Whenever I tried to do this on the livecd the effects
automatically turned off (or at least the indicator in 'change
background' showed them as turned off) on both laptops. No error message
showing. Possible bug?

I attempted to reproduce this bug with other applications but they
worked fine. Only the 'applications' window seems to do it.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 685363] [NEW] xserver-xorg-video-ati: 3D acceleration problems

2010-12-04 Thread Andre Rousseau
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Hello everyone,

A few weeks ago, I installed Ubuntu 10.10 x86_64 on my AMD 64
desktop computer. Everything works well except the 3D acceleration
required in some games. The graphics are running very slowly and/or
flickering, or crash. I have an ATI Radeon RS482 Xpress 200 and the
open-source Xserver-xorg-video-radeon and -ati doesn't seem to take
charge correctly of 3D. No proprietary fglrx drivers fit my hardware
requirements (is my video card too old?). Any clue on this puzzling
situation?

Thanks you guys,
Andre.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 585923] Re: [gm45] xserver completely freezes each time when executing paraview

2010-07-01 Thread Andre Massing
I proceed as you wrote. Summary: With linux-
image-2.6.35-999-generic_2.6.35-999.201006301005_amd64.deb as the latest
mainline kernel and xorg-edgers I almost got the same error, desktop
starts to hang after paraview action. No windows and keyboard
interaction possible, only the mouse pointer can slowly be moved. But
this time Alt+SysRq+k worked and kill the xserver. Therefore I could
save the sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/ output. Attachments follow...

2010-06-29 Thread Andre Massing
Hi! I just want to add that the same bug also occurs on a Ubuntu
installation (gnome-desktop). BTW, do you need any further (and what
kind of) information (since this bug is still marked as incomplete)?

Cheers,
Andre

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 585923] Re: [gm45] xserver completely freezes each time when executing paraview

2010-06-15 Thread Andre Massing
Hi!

Sorry for my late reply, others things kept me from more testing. So here is
the (hopefully) better report.
As I wrote my system crashes 100% reliably each time I use paraview, load a
file, add a cutplane in paraview and try to rotate the object. Crashes means
the following phases:
1. Mouse cursor starts to stutter, indicate high workload.
2. xserver/KDM dies (black screen)
3. Tries to restart xserver/kdm. I see the typical load cursor symbol (when
kdm is usually starting) flickering on an otherwise black screen.
4. Loading stops and system freezes completely. Just seeing a black screen and
a terminal cursor in the upper left corner.
Not possible to change to any other TTY from 1-6. None of the magic key
combination works (I tested them also during a normal session, and then they
work).
BTW, I get also occasionally a xserver restart when I change to TTY 1-6 (which
caused that I had to write this comment twice :)

Use me at your guinea pig and tell if there is more I can test/crash :) or
other information you need.
Cheers,
Andre

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 585923] Re: [gm45] xserver completely freezes each time when executing paraview

2010-06-04 Thread Andre Massing
Hi! I just installed all packages from xorg-edgers PPA as recommended and
tested it. Error remains. Xserver hangs when I move cutplanes around in
paraview, with restart of the xserver and almost complete freeze afterwards
(Only terminals display 1 to 5 remained alive). Same log messages as before.
Are there any other information/configurations I could provide/check? Thanks
for the suggestions and help!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 585923] Re: [gm45] xserver completely freezes each time when executing paraview

2010-06-03 Thread Andre Massing
Hi!
Sorry for my late response but I have been offline for a while. Did you want me
to install *all* xorg packages from that repository? I did a first try just
upgrading intel related packages and dependencies. But unfortunately this
resulted into a freeze of mouse and keyboard, preventing me from logging in
from kdm.
These are the packages I upgraded:

[OPPGRADER] intel-gpu-tools 1.0.2+git20100324-0ubuntu1 -
1.0.2+git20100515-0ubuntu0sarvatt~lucid

1:0.0.16+git20100513.4b8f1a08-0ubuntu0sarvatt2~lucid

I haven't yet filed a bug report against this issue, since I was not
sure whether I need also to update all the other xorg packages. But at
least dependency resolution in aptitude did not indicate that I have to
update them as well.

I tried it out and although paraview and other heavily graphic card

paraview. Paraview sometimes starts to hang, run very slowly with most

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 473949] Re: Holded 2.4 version prevents graphics driver upgrading

2009-11-18 Thread Andre Spiegel
Bump. This issue caused suspend to fail on my Thinkpad T61 and desktop
effects wouldn't work either. I upgraded the xserver-xorg-video-intel
package and both problems went away. Took me a long time to diagnose
this.

2009-07-26 Thread andre
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 196277 ***

I tried your recommendation, ie. to rechk the Alt+Shift checkbox from the
layout option...but still I had no results...unless
I should restart my PC again???

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 383754] Re: [X700] chessboard design on Desktop with 9.04

2009-06-22 Thread Andre
I experience the same 'chessboard' on a system with ATI X700 and can confirm
that the error doesn't exist on Intrepid (from which I'm reporting right now).
Any fixes?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 383754] Re: [X700] chessboard design on Desktop with 9.04

2009-06-22 Thread Andre
I got some more information: The mouse-pointer (no matter if it is the
arrow or a hand) is not affected by the chessboard. It seem like it is
hoovering over the chessboard. Every windows that is drawn, is cut /
coined by the chessboard. The funny thing is that you can move a windows
underneath the chessboard. This way you can see what is drawn and what
is not. When switching to tty1-6 (Ctrl + Alt + F1-6) there is no
evidence of the chessboard. It seem like this bug is affecting the
desktop/windows when they are drawn.
