# echo 0  rom

Nothing is modified, I am booting from the CD for these tests. Any old
configs are long gone, sorry!

Perhaps  should mention I'm using the older version A08 bios from Dell
which used to fix compatibility with the old i810 driver, in case this
is relevant.

booted karmic alpha 2 i386 desktop livecd with acpi=off and noapic

still lots of corruption on internal LCD. External monitor works OK with
some flickering
