[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1405696] Re: [xorg-edgers] after installation of nvidia-346 the screen is turned off at start of display manager (lightdm, gdm, kdm and xdm)
I have the same problem on Ubuntu 14.04 since 27/01/2015. nvidia-346 was installed and worked perfectly but now, for an unknown reason, the screen is turned off when lightdm starts. Nevertheless I can hear the lightdm start sound. I have installed the nvidia-current (nvidia-304) package. So now, my computer uses its intel graphic card instead of its nvidia graphic card. When I try to switch to the nvidia card with nvidia-prime, it fails... I have tried to install newer versions of the nvidia driver (nvidia-331 and then nvidia-340) but it does not change anything. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1405696 Title: [xorg-edgers] after installation of nvidia-346 the screen is turned off at start of display manager (lightdm, gdm, kdm and xdm) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1405696/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1365695] Re: No longer able to use GUI after update
Hi, I have tried to install the last nvidia-352 from the following ppa https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive to replace nvidia-340. I still have a black screen with the lightdm music when I start my computer (Asus 64 bits: ubuntu 14.04: Optimus technology). The workaround I currently use is to set my computer in sleep mode (Fn+F1 on my keyboard) and to wake it up just after (Fn+F1 again). Then the screen works fine with the nvidia card. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1721619] [NEW] Mouse ignored by Xorg
Public bug reported: Resizing a window with the mouse, the pointer got stuck with the resizing icon. The cursor was still (visually) moving. I used xev to try figuring out what Xorg was receiving. Weird, xev was reporting nothing, not even mouse moves (from what I remember, it is not drawn by software). I have 2 mice and they where both behaving the same. I switch to console and cat /dev/input/mice, both mice where working fine. I tried to find a way to reset (only) the pointer but could not find any, is there ? Then I killed Xorg witch was restarted automatically and the pointer was fine. You should have all the hardware info, but I'm using a mac mini 5,1 and a magic mouse. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 659473] Re: gitk crashes entire X session
Ok, test results. Ran on Thinkpar T510 (Optimus graphics). BIOS config is either Integrated graphics (Intel) or Discrete (Nvidia). The nouveau open source driver is used for nvidia configurations. This is on latest natty. BIOS; Dock config => Results 1- Integrated Graphics; In dock at boot, single screen => gitk works 2- Integrated Graphics; In dock at boot, two screens => gitk works 3- Discrete Graphics; In dock at boot, two screens => X crashes completely (back to login screen) 4- Discrete Graphics; In dock only after X starts, two screens configured with xrandr => X freezes (Image is frozen but cursor still follows mouse movements) 5- Discrete Graphics; In dock at boot, removed from dock after X starts, reconfigure to single screen with xrandr => X freezes (Image is frozen but cursor still follows mouse movements) I've had similar symptoms at other times, but I only identified gitk as consistently triggering the bug. In any event, this il definitely: -Related to multi-screen configurations -Doesn't occur on i965 driver -Aparently common to both closed nvidia driver and open nouveau driver. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/659473 Title: gitk crashes entire X session ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
