[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 681904] Re: [arrandale] Samsung QX310/QX410/QX510/SF310/SF410/SF510/NF210/RF410/RF510/RF511/RF710 trackpad/touchpad not recognized

2013-05-27 Thread clemmy
I'm very interested in comment #154 by nik.martin. I've understood that
I should assign a 0 as the missing arg, but I'm not sure about how to do
it in practice.

Line 699 looks like this now:
input_mt_init_slots(dev, 2);
Should I change it to something like the following?
input_mt_init_slots(dev, 2, 0);

Thanks a lot for any help

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 550625] Re: Alps touchpad is recognized but synaptics clients and scrolling do not work

2011-10-17 Thread clemmy
Thank you very much Seth Forshee, good job!

AlpsPS/2 ALPS DualPoint TouchPad on Sony Vaio VPCSB laptop
Ubuntu 11.10
Version 0.10 of the psmouse-alps-dkms as per comment #492

Touchpad correctly recognized and fully working, including two finger
scrolling.

Before I was using the standard psmouse driver with the option
proto=imps to have side-scrolling, but two finger scrolling is much
better! :)

The only downside I have found is that I need to be very precise with my
finger.. this apply to both:
* two-finger scrolling
* double tap-and hold for selecting some text (don't know if there is a better
definition)
I don't know if this is implicit in the driver, or if there is some settings
that I can tweak with synclient (will do some research later)

I'll give the link to this bugreport to some users on ubuntuforums how
have my same notebook, because we all have the same problem. They'll be
very happy! Just a suggestion: you should consider preparing a small
webpage to present your patched driverd, with newest version at the top
of the page. It will be more straightforward for new users to get there,
as well as for old users to check if there are any updates available.
(Or at least, if you are allowed, update the description of the bug,
putting a direct link to the comment with the latest version available)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 802558] Re: [xorg-edgers] huge performance regression after upgrade

2011-07-03 Thread clemmy
Hi Maxime,

my laptop is a sony vaio vpcsb with hybrid graphics intel + ati (I keep
the ati switched off with vgastitcheroo). Everything seemed to be fixed
with 3.0rc4 kernel, but then I had not tested googleearth.

Unfortunately, I had some problems with 3.0 kernel, that was seemed to
be not compatible with virtualbox (dkms reporter an error while
compiling virtualbox kernel module). So I switched back to 2.6.39-3
kernel and old intel driver. I'm sorry I cannot give you more
informations.

Anyway I agree with your last point. The new kernel is necessary for the
new intel drivers, so it should be provided by the ppa (or at least tell
the user to manually get it!).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 802558] [NEW] [xorg-edgers] huge performance regression after upgrade

2011-06-27 Thread clemmy
Public bug reported:

I'm on natty 64bit and I enable xorg-edgers ppa and kernel-ppa
(currently using 2.6.39-3-generic)

I've got a vaio laptop with hybrid intel + ati graphics. I use the intel
one, and keep the ati powered off with vgaswitcheroo.

Everything was very good till yesterday. After today's upgrade of
xserver-xorg-video-intel, I found a huge performance regression, making
my system completely unusable.

performance got back to usual after downgrading to previous version that
was on the ppa till yestarday.

last stable version for me was:
xserver-xorg-video-intel_2%3a2.15.0+git20110624.471115a9-0ubuntu0sarvatt~natty_amd64.deb

unusable version is:
xserver-xorg-video-intel_2%3a2.15.0+git20110627.44cd6ebf-0ubuntu0sarvatt~natty_amd64.deb

just tell me more information is needed, i'm not an programmer, but i'd
like to spend some time on testing and reporting if it could be useful

** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
