[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 396046] [NEW] Using xfix in restore modus, kills the grapic on ATI system

2009-07-06 Thread delly
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 9.04
Release:9.04
AMD/ATI radeon 3460 AMD/ATI radeon 2xxx

Using xfix in restore modus leaves the computer unable to use xorg at
all.

This is what is suppose to happen: Xorg capabel of running with about no
3D acceleration, by dragging in vesa or something else.

This is what happens:
It skullbashes the config, by using generic output all over the place. Which
screws over the grapics.
Which results in hal being ankward along with a crash of the computer that
its done on when attempting to start xorg. However, this only applies to the
computer, ssh and about every other way of remote controlling still works.

** Affects: libxcb (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 396051] [NEW] installing fglrx and amdccc via synaptic

2009-07-06 Thread delly
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: fglrx-amdcccle

Installing the driver via synaptic DOES NOT start the config of xorg, or give
any message that it should. Itself its not a problem, but when you have:
*removed the fully bloated preinstalled desktop enviroment
*xfix has skullbashed your xorg
*Just running cli since xorg cannot start

I do think it should ask if you want to configure it or not.

Version: all versions of the propitary ATI driver
