Public bug reported: I run a MBP8.1 with Intel graphics and a Dell monitor attached via DisplayPort. Occassionally (several times a day) the external monitor goes blank, but the internal monitor shows that X keeps the resolution from the big screen. Unplugging and reattaching the external monitor restores the signal.
