I'm on Ubuntu 20.04, using the nvidia-driver-440, and I am also experiencing wallpaper corruption issues whenever I unlock my desktop. My current workaround is to do sudo apt install --reinstall ubuntu-wallpapers This restores the picture, but eventually it gets corrupted again.
