Blacklisting the nouveau drivers (the module) and installing the latest official drivers solve most of the related FX problems. http://www.nvidia.de/object/linux-display-amd64-173.14.31-driver-de.html Could the Ubuntu Team please update the package to that version? 173.14.30 has some bugs using FX cards.
