[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 794895] Re: Xorg crashes in doListFontsAndAliases

2011-06-17 Thread iFred
Well, strict answer is no, because there is only a workaround (not quite
obvious to regular user) but there is no patch that actually fixes this bug.
On the other hand it seems, that people on freedesktop.org bugzilla actually
treat this bug as won't-fix.
But preventing nVidia config tool (and maybe other tools) from writing FontPath
unix/:7100 to xorg.conf could also be threated as a fix for this bug.

I tried your method (disabling record module in xorg.conf) but all I got was

[ 1394.228] (WW) record will not be loaded unless you've specified it to be
loaded elsewhere.
...
[ 1394.228] (II) record will be loaded even though the default is to disable
it.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 774978] Re: xserver crashes in RecordAReply when XRecord is enabled in syndaemon

2011-05-27 Thread iFred
@Robert Hooker
Just got your xserver-xorg-input-synaptics package from xorg-edgers ppa.
My standard test sequence (see #780358) isn't causing crash anymore. Thank you!

Log in to Recovery console session.
cd to directory with git branch
Run git citool

A really positive thing: after removing fade on lock, locked desktop
content does not become visible (it was just a blink, but it was
anoying) during user-switch process.

@jeffbl, all
Oops, I hurried... After some swithes, locked desktop flash appeared again.
But it's subject for a separate bug. Who knows, where should it be reported? Or
it already has an open discussion?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 546578] Re: black screen after a few user switches

2010-05-22 Thread iFred
** Description changed:

  [Problem]
Up-to-date Lucid with radeon driver. After switching user a few times
(usually between 3 and 5 times), the screen goes black with only the mouse
cursor visible after entering the user's password. VTs are also completely
black. Restarting gdm fixes the issue, and nothing odd appears in XOrg.0.log
when the black screen occurs.

  - It also happens with KMS disabled.
  - It also happens with compiz disabled for all users.

- [Workaround]
+ [Workaround] 1
  Uninstall gnome-screensaver (see bug #555870 - something gnome-screensaver
does is triggering this X bug)
+ [Workaround] 2
+ Blindfold: Unlock session by typing password, then press Alt-F2 (call
Run ... dialog), then type xgamma -gamma 1.0 and hit Enter
+ [Workaround] 3
+ Update gnome-screensaver to 2.30.0-0ubuntu2 or higher (yet in proposed repo).
Those versions are compiled with disabled fade on lock.
