[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1049534] Re: [regression from 12.04] VGA Monitor uses reduced resolution

2012-10-04 Thread iroli
It is no Laptop, it is a PC and the monitors are connected directly.
I tried booting the system with the VGA monitor not attached and attached it
later (when logged in already).
The monitor was detected, with reduced resolution however, so this dit NOT fix
the issue.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1049534] Re: [regression from 12.04] VGA Monitor uses reduced resolution

2012-09-26 Thread iroli
I found a way to work around the issue:

$ xrandr --addmode VGA1 1280x1024
$ xrandr --output VGA1 --mode 1280x1024

but I have to do this after every reboot which is not a good solution. I also
found out that EDID information is not detected correctly by the i915 drm
modul, as
/sys/module/drm/drivers/pci:i915/:00:02.0/drm/card0/card0-VGA-1/edid is an
empty file.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1049534] [NEW] [regression from 12.04] VGA Monitor uses reduced resolution

2012-09-12 Thread iroli
Public bug reported:

Just upgraded from 12.04 to 12.10 beta. I have a dual monitor setup and
the monitor connected to the VGA port is useing a reduced default
resolution (1024x768) instead of it's native resolution 1280x1024 since
the upgrade. I also noticed that the EDID information is missing from
Xorg.0.log.

I also attach an old Xorg log file (from 12.04) where the EDID
information is correct.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 757221] [NEW] unlocking screensaver - graphics are not updated any more

2011-04-11 Thread iroli
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Howto reproduce:

1) lock the screen using ctrl+alt+L
2) press a button

expected behaviour:
3) screen unlock widget rendered
4) type in password, resume session

actual behaviour:
3) screen unlock widget is _not_ drawn
4) blind typing password and pressing enter I *think* unlocks screen, but still
no updates to the screen are rendered. I only see the old screen content
(screen saver images), mouse cursor however changes it's icon as I move it
around the screen.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 752255] [NEW] [q45, maverick regression] second montior only available a few minutes delayed after system start

2011-04-06 Thread iroli
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

This is a regression from maverick.
I have a dual monitor setup (2x DVI).
The second monitor is not available after a system start. xrand does not show
it either.
A few minutes after working (gnome classic), the monitor is detected and
enabled automatically.
Everything is fine then (except the desktop icon mess of course).

I can't find anything regarding output HDMI2 in Xorg.0.log.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 559603] [NEW] [10.04 regression] user switch leaves original session unusable

2010-04-09 Thread iroli
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

The switch user function worked fine in 9.10 but does not work in 10.04 beta.
The session for the user switched to is ok, but you cannot switch back, neither
via shutdown menu nor using ctrl+alt+f? hotkeys.
Even the text consoles are broken after you switched user once (they work when
just one user is logged in).

To reproduce:

1) switch to some other user using the shutdown menu
2) try to switch back

result: screen stays black, but you can reactive the switched to user
session by ctrl+alt+f? hotkey, text consoles stay black as well
expected result: resume the session of the original user, text consoles still
usable.
