I can confirm that this did not solve my problem. I tested my system out
for several hours with no issue and thought that perhaps it had been
solved but while doing a libreoffice presentation with my audio software
running it happened again. here is the error from journalctl

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 2039868]

2023-10-21 Thread jer
Hello, I'm having this same issue with my thinkpad z16 laptop, Ryzen
6850H and Radeon RX 6500M graphics card.

I do not use the laptop for gaming but for audio and video editing. I
have not had trouble with any video editing software but I can easily
reproduce the issue by loading up Ardour or Mixbus32C and either leaving
it alone or working. After 15 minutes the screen freezes although audio
will continue for a time. At this point Ardour or Mixbus will close and
I can continue using the machine. If I load up either program again it
will fail again, usually within a couple minutes and the whole laptop
will freeze up until I ctrl-alt-F2 to get to a terminal prompt.

The issue always happens when Im recording audio with an HDMI device
attached and 90% of the time without HDMI

I will attempt to set this kernel parameter amdgpu.mcbp=0 and report
back.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 657634] Re: [GeForce GT 330M] nvidia 260.19.06-0ubuntu1 update triggers black screen on boot for sony vaio F-series

2010-11-08 Thread Jer
While I'm able to use the 256 driver, its really slow, so I'd also like
to know if there is any update on this issue. At this point the stack
traces I've seen indicate its a problem inside the nvidia driver itself.
There are also numerous other reports of this bug in different forums as
well.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 657634] Re: [GeForce GT 330M] nvidia 260.19.06-0ubuntu1 update triggers black screen on boot for sony vaio F-series

2010-11-08 Thread Jer
Has anyone tried the official (certified) version from the Nvidia
website? It has the same version number (260.19.12) that is known
broken for our machines. I'm guessing it also has the same bug.
Because of this, I'm not hopeful that our issue is going to be resolved
in the near future unfortunately, as there are no more beta drivers,
which may contain fixes, currently available that we can try.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 659636] [NEW] fglrx does not detect/support 1152x864 in Ubuntu 10.10

2010-10-12 Thread jer
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: fglrx

I just fresh installed fglrx via the additional drivers application
(jockey) and for some reason, after installing it, the driver does not
detect and support 1152x864.

Back in 10.04, the driver supports that resolution.

I would like to add that the driver doesn't even detect the name of this
monitor. This was also the case in 10.04 but at least it was able to
detect it's max resolution which was 1152x864.

Sorry if it's already not part of the report but I will also report
slowdowns when I enable visual effects

I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat
