 Title:
Flash video with hardware acceleration causes X crash with radeon
  driver

Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

 Bug description:
  Binary package hint: xorg

New install of Kubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwahl. Emachines e442, Xorg
verson 1:7.6+4ubuntu3, ATI Technologies Inc M880G [Mobility Radeon HD
4200] with the generic open source radeon driver. Viewing Flash video
in full screen on web browsers causes the Xserver to crash.

The only solution is to go to the virtual console, kill firefox with
the killall or kill -9 PID command, and restart the computer.
Restarting KDM leads to a loss of network connections.

  Steps to recreate:
  1. Open Firefox, Chrome, or Rekonq
  2. Play flash video
  3. Hit the full screen button

The bug persists when trying to view videos with hardware acceleration
enabled. Disabling hardware acceleration causes videos to start in
full screen, but exit immediately. Enabling the fglrx driver from the
Additional driver utility solves the problem, but brings on others,
not related to the flash issue.

the issue is not KDE related. I just added fglrx to Ubuntu Natty, and going
into fullscreen and exiting made X hang. This is with hw acceleration.
dmesg from the hang appended.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 764650] Re: Flash video with hardware acceleration causes X crash with radeon driver

2011-04-28 Thread jovan dragisic
After installing fglrx through jockey, the situation is thus. I can run
flash videos in full screen with hw acceleration in Chrome, And exit
them normally. I can run them in firefox, but upon exit, i get an allout
lockup of X again. Due to a mistake I made, i can't get back to KDE from
tty1. Will post the dmesg from the hang if prompted.

2011-04-19 Thread jovan dragisic
Weird, this time I did get Firefox to run the flash video fullscreen.
After I exited fullscreen, I got the flash code written all over my
desktop, burned into it, so to speak. Then I tried Chrome, did get
fullscreen, but right after I exited, there was complete lockdown again.
dmesg output appended.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 764650] [NEW] Flash video with hardware acceleration causes X crash with radeon driver

2011-04-18 Thread jovan dragisic
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

New install of Kubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwahl. Emachines e442, Xorg verson
1:7.6+4ubuntu3, ATI Technologies Inc M880G [Mobility Radeon HD 4200]
with the generic open source radeon driver. Viewing Flash video in full
screen on web browsers causes the Xserver to crash.

The only solution is to go to the virtual console, kill firefox with the
killall or kill -9 PID command, and restart the computer. Restarting KDM
leads to a loss of network connections.

Steps to recreate:
1. Open Firefox, Chrome, or Rekonq
2. Play flash video
3. Hit the full screen button

The bug persists when trying to view videos with hardware acceleration
enabled. Disabling hardware acceleration causes videos to start in full
screen, but exit immediately. Enabling the fglrx driver from the
Additional driver utility solves the problem, but brings on others,
not related to the flash issue.

Additional information on demand.
